FASHION

How Do I WEAR THAT?You shared your fears and questions about pulling off the season’s trickiest pieces. This is how to do it, with a little inspo from your fave A-listers.

You’re not alone! But as you can see with Rowan’s floral dress and tiger shoes, as long as you find common colors, wearing lots of prints doesn’t have to be wild.

You aren’t dreaming: Classic pj’s-inspired clothes are a thing! Try a matching set like Selena (dressed

up with red lips and heels). Or experiment by rocking the top with

jeans or the bottoms with a tee.

“When I combine patterns, I look like I got dressed in the dark.” –GIANNA, 16

“I know I’m not turning any heads when I roll

out of bed and go straight to class. So how is this

any different?” –MARYCLAIR, 19

For fierce-looking floods, choose a cut that hits

you one to two inches above the ankles. To prove you aren’t style-

challenged, do like Alexa and opt

for polished and tailored pieces,

like a blazer, a button-down, and

flats to complete your ensemble.

“I don’t know how to rock

these without looking like I bought jeans

that were too small.”

–TORI, 18

Metallics

Metallics are easy as long as you pair them with something simple—like Solange does here. Going for a shimmery skirt and a solid top in the same color makes an #OOTD that’s out of this world in the best way possible.

“I’m worried anything shiny just looks like alien clothing.” –LAUREN, 17

The Girl Meets World star and “Smoke and Fire” singer, 16, dishes about her new tunes, geeking out

around Miley, and making a difference. Your new single has such a different

sound from your first album, which you released just last year. What’s that about?

I think another year does a lot in a teenage girl’s life. I’ve really matured a lot. Now I’m trying to navigate

my own relationship problems. I’ve channeled those experiences into writing my new songs.

When did you first fall in love with music? When I was really young, my dad would get haircuts at this place that was far away from our house, and I would drive

along with him. During those car rides, he played classic Beatles songs like “Rocky Raccoon.” That’s when I really

fell in love with the sound of older music, and my obsession has only grown over the past couple of years.

Speaking of obsession, have you ever been starstruck around another celeb before?

I first created a YouTube channel when I was 9 so I could enter a singing contest run by Miley Cyrus —Hannah

Montana was an inspiration. I met Miley through that, and I couldn’t even speak. I got a photo with her, but I

was wearing a fedora, so I’ll never show that to anyone! Although, it’s probably on Google somehow. . . .

Any artists you’re dying to work with now? Ed Sheeran is obviously great at collabs, so I’d have to

say him. And we’d get along because he’s British! This is random, but I’m secretly really into British culture—the

accent, the history, everything. I’m dying to go to England, but I’ve only flown into the airport.

What’s your most memorable fan encounter? A little girl named McKenzie will always stand out to me. She was going through some really tough times

healthwise, and my song “We’ll Be the Stars” helped her through everything. It reminded me how much I can

affect others just by doing what I’m doing. –JEN ABIDOR

Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler, 12, dish on how they deal with sibling dramz and keep their relationship strong. by HEATHER VIGGIANIStay TIGHT With Your

SISTER

“Maddie doesn’t realize how much time our mom spends with her on set! But instead of letting it bother me, I think about how I’m proud of the cool jobs she’s landed and how popular she is.”

“I just let it slide—I think about how it all evens out in the end. Either we’ll do the trade with belongings, or we’ll negotiate with favors. I’ll do her hair if she lets me wear something of hers.”

“With our age difference, I accept that there’s no way for me to outdo her at some things. When we can, we like to collaborate so we aren’t going against each other all the time.”

“I travel so much and don’t see my friends a lot. So at home, I don’t always want my sister around them; they’re obsessed with her. I tell her I want alone time and she understands.”

“I get angry that my sister does things I wasn’t allowed to do at her age. My mom says it’s because I set an example of how to handle responsibility. That feels good—but it still bugs me!”

Special treatment is the worst—whether it’s the attention-getting golden child or the baby who gets to break all the rules.

Secretly going into each other’s closets and beauty stashes just might be the most annoyingly common rite of sisterhood.

She might get all the good grades, or maybe she’s killing it in sports (or dance!), and it can feel like a constant competition.

There’s friend time and then there’s family time. And sometimes you just don’t want the two to mix.

“As much as I get mad, I tell myself that it’s really flattering that she likes my style. We’ll usually come up with a deal: I’ll let her wear something of mine if I can borrow her makeup.”

“I usually beat her at dance, but when it comes to music, she’s the singer! She has double my numbers on Musical.ly. She rubs that in my face, but I like knowing that she has her thing.”

“I like having my sister around—and so do my besties—but it can feel like she’s tagging along. Still, I’ve realized it’s pointless to fight over our friends liking both of us.”

INK-SPIRATIONFrom runway to rockfest: Here’s how to

make the tiny face-tat trend (summer’s outdoor-concert essential) work for you.

BY ERIN STOVALL

STEP 1 Make Skin MatteOpt for oil-free every-thing—lotion, sunscreen, concealer, foundation—and set with translucent powder. Sketching on dewy or sweaty skin is a one-way ticket to Smudgeville.

STEP 2 Practice Makes PerfectTest your design (such as the heart or moon on the models, here) on paper or your hand first. Ready for your face? A stable arm is key. Suzy Gerstein, a New York City–based makeup artist, recommends propping your elbow on a flat surface and keeping it as close to your body as possible to reduce shaking.

STEP 3 Pick the Right PenA fine-tip liquid-liner pen (try Kat Von D’s, below) is clutch for drawing thin lines, while one with a rounded tip (like Maybel-line’s liner, above) is best for dotting. “Start small, and step back from the mirror periodically to make sure you like what you see,” says Gerstein. “You can always add more.”

STEP 4 Clean It UpWet a cotton swab with makeup remover to spot-erase messy or wiggly lines. Keep some on hand throughout the day for touch-ups (remover-filled swabs like the ones at right are super portable).

NOT DOW N TO DI Y ? Temporary

tattoos (like the glittery stars and dots in

Inked by Dani’s pack, shown

here) are your BFFs. Just press onto the corners

of your eyes, above the

brows, or along the tops of

cheekbones.
