Stroke ClinicOur clinic is designed to accommodate swimmers who havebasic ability in freestyle and backstroke. This is not recommendedfor those whowant a learn-to-swim program. Our swim teamhas swimmers age five to18 years with different levels ofaccomplishment. If you have any questions, please contactJim Schick at [email protected]

Ourmain goal is to make the transition from short course(25 yards) to our long course pool (50meters).We do this bygiving each swimmer the opportunity to improve their skillsand technique so that theymay swimmore efficiently with lessstruggle and less wasted energy. This will give each swimmerthe opportunity to havemore fun with less effort.New swimteammembersmust register for the Stroke Clinic.

The progression through the four strokes (stroke technique, reviewing drills, stroke components, starts, turns and finishes)is designed for those that already have a basic skill level. Ourgoal is to expose everyone to all four strokes and introducethe beginning swimmer to some of the components of eachstroke when they are ready for them. During any session therewill always be some freestyle for all levels, and in each successivesession new strokes and techniques will be added as swimmersprogress at their own pace. Coachesmay adjust swimmers toother lanes from time to time during these two weeks dependingon the skills the coach feels an individual swimmer needs toimprove.

Session I: Freestyle 5/18, 5/19The first two days will be devoted to freestyle only.We will havelanes from beginning levels to advanced.Session II: Backstroke 5/20, 5/21Wewill continue freestyle and also begin backstroke for those whoare ready, as well as introduce backstroke components to somebeginning levels.Session III: Breaststroke 5/22, 5/26Wewill continue freestyle and backstroke and also beginbreaststroke for those who are ready, as well as introduce limitedbreaststroke components to some beginning levels.Session IV: Butterfly 5/27, 5/28Wewill continue freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke and alsobegin butterfly for those who are ready, as well as introduce limitedbutterfly components to some beginning levels.SessionV: Starts & Turns 5/29Starts and turns may also be covered by the coaches at theirdiscretion during each stroke session.
