Lincoln M. Alexander Secondary School in Mississauga opened its
doors to students in September 2000. To officially mark the school’s
opening, Lincoln Alexander, former lieutenant-governor of Ontario,
visited the school and spoke with students. The school was created
by merging Morning Star and Westwood secondary schools.
Lincoln M. Alexander students are encouraged to show respect, take
responsibility for personal actions, make a positive difference within
the school community and to strive to be productive members of
society.
Students can participate in a wide range of curricular and
extracurricular activities that support social, emotional, intellectual
and physical growth. Extracurricular activities include alpine skiing,
archery, cricket, wrestling and numerous clubs.

SPECIALIST HIGH SKILLS MAJOR (SHSM)
TRANSPORTATION
In order to meet the high demands in the coming years for quality skilled workers in the Transportation Industry, Lincoln M. Alexander is excited to offer this program. The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) at LMASS involves students completing a package of courses that meet the needs of all students with an interest in developing skills in a career in the Transportation Industry. The Transportation Industry acknowledges and supports the program through certification and appropriate industry placements.
In order to complete a SHSM in Transportation, students
1. Complete a bundle of 9 specific courses (see chart below). 2. Complete Sector Certifications and/or training programs. 3. Obtain experiential learning and career exploration activities within the sector (e.g. co-op work experience, job
shadowing, job twinning). 4. Document the industry Essential Skills and work habits using the Ontario Skills Passport. 5. Gain “Reach Ahead Experience” connected to the student’s post secondary plans.
