CORONA VIRUS ALERT: BE SAFE, STAY SAFE!

Captain’s Corner

Exciting news! We have the green light to resume golf!!! Our

daily routines have changed, and so has our routine around the game of

golf. However, how we play golf as a Women’s Club in the future, will be

different.

Now that we have been approved to start on Thursday, July 2nd, with the

return of LHLGXVIII events and regular playdays, we still need to strictly

follow the CDC, State, Placer County, Lincoln Hills Golf Course, and our

Board, to provide future guidance as we resume play. Please remember

that even as we proceed, any scheduled playdays and Tournaments will be

subject to short notice cancellations, if any new health and safety concerns

arise. Everyone’s continued safety is number one. You will be updated with

new information as soon as it is received.

Here is the current guideline the Ladies 18 will be following:

Lincoln Hills Ladies 18 Golf Club Member Guidelines

The following policies will be in effect at Lincoln Hills Golf Course during

Ladies Play Days and are subject to change based on current County and

State guidelines. Player failing to adhere to the following policies may be

asked to leave the premises.

General Sanitation

• Players must maintain at least 6 ft. minimum distance from other

people while on the property.

• Face coverings must be worn as required by COVID-19 guidelines

when 6 ft. distance cannot be met, such as during check-in, practice

areas, etc.

Groupings

• Tee times will be staggered starting at 8:00 AM in 10 minutes

intervals. No shotgun starts yet. Tournament Chair will send out on

Monday, like normal, the time you will be playing as well as the

ladies you will be playing with. We have slots for 48 players and

times will range from 8 to 10 am. If there is more than 48, the

Tournament Chair will put them on a wait list. (Please note that 7:30

tee times have been requested.)

• Please arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to tee time, pay (credit

card only) and be ready to go. No sweeps money collected.

Payment price is set by regular course non-member price or your

individual Lincoln Hills member prices. Regular-$44, Prospector-$40,

Gold Rush-$38.

• Social distancing until allowed to proceed to starting hole. Only 1

group allowed at starting area.

Page 3: Lincoln Hills Ladies XVIII Golf Club CORONA VIRUS ALERT ... · Nominations for 2021 Executive Board and Extended Board As per our By-Laws, nominations for club officers will be accepted

Carts

• Single rider cart. Players allowed to bring own carts. Club cart

sanitation policies are subject to county ordinances and will be

maintained by host facilities. It is recommended to bring your own

hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes/spray.

Scorecard Procedures

• Scorecards available at check-in or on carts. We will be using LHLG

scorecards.

• One player in each 4-some keeps a scorecard with all 4 scores. All

players should keep their own score for verification after the round.

At completion of round, verify your hole by hole score with the 4-

score marker and the marker should initial next to each player’s

name as they verbally confirm their score. No signing scorecard-only

needs to verify verbally to confirm score.

• Scorecards then placed in a scorecard basket/box in the Pro Shop.

Submit only one scorecard.

• Results will be e-mailed to all players on Golf Genius. At this point

in time, we will not be able to do sweeps and no closest to the pins.

We will let you know when that changes. Tournament Chair will be

posting your scores through golf genius so, please do not post.

Food and Beverage

• Bring your own water. No water provided on Golf Course.

• Beverages and some/snacks on course may be available by the food

carts.

Bathrooms

• Bathrooms outside the Pro Shop and on both courses are to remain

open and cleaned according to County Guidelines.

Page 4: Lincoln Hills Ladies XVIII Golf Club CORONA VIRUS ALERT ... · Nominations for 2021 Executive Board and Extended Board As per our By-Laws, nominations for club officers will be accepted

Flagstick and Hole

• The flagstick is not to be touched at any time. Blatant disregard for

this policy may result in disqualification.

• The hole has an insert that allows the ball to drop below the level of

the putting green. You may retrieve it without touching the flagstick

or the edge of the hole.

Bunkers

• Bunker rakes will be removed from the course and are considered

ground under repair. No penalty removing it out of the bunker and

placing the ball outside of the bunker no closer to the hole.

• Players are encouraged to smooth the surface of the bunker with their

foot or club before exiting the bunker.

Maximum Score

• The maximum allowable score for a hole is 10. You will get only the

maximum score if your actual score exceeds the maximum. A player

who does not hole out gets the maximum score for the hole. You are

encouraged to stop playing a hole when you have reached the

maximum score.

Be safe, stay safe and healthy, and continue to do your part in stopping

the spread of COVID 19.

July Spotlight

Nominations for 2021 Executive Board and Extended Board

As per our By-Laws, nominations for club officers will be accepted between

July 1 and July 31. Also, according to the By-Laws, the process consists of three

members of which a Past Captain and two other members will select the nominee

for incoming Co-Captain, Secretary, and Treasurer.

All positions are considered open (except Captain) through this process. Any

member can nominate themselves or another member. If a current Executive

Board member wishes to continue in their position they must be nominated and

voted in by the membership. Please note that we do not update the membership as

to who wishes to run for an office or who is nominated for an office during this

process, as this could discourage someone from expressing interest in one of the 3

open positions.

* After the nominating period has ended the nominee’s names will be posted by

August 15 as per our By-Laws.

* The nominating committee’s slate and all other nominees will be sent to the

membership.

* Voting is by ballot at the September 17th general meeting and/or by e-vote.

* Check types of positions on our website under By-Laws for descriptions.

If interested in an Executive Board position please contact any of the

following: Valerie McElroy, [email protected], Donna Sanderson,

[email protected], or Edda Ashe, [email protected].

Page 6: Lincoln Hills Ladies XVIII Golf Club CORONA VIRUS ALERT ... · Nominations for 2021 Executive Board and Extended Board As per our By-Laws, nominations for club officers will be accepted

Extended Board positions will be filled by the incoming Captain, Deb Dunipace,

once the new Executive Board is voted in by the membership. If you are interested

in continuing an extended board position, want a change of a position, or would

like to be considered for an extended position, please contact Co-Captain Deb

Dunipace ([email protected]).

Focus Group Update

Our Focus group leader, Katie Sween, reports they have met once and will meet at

least 2 other times. She is pleased with the progress they are making. The goal is

to enhance and enjoy our Ladies golf club. Thank you to Katie and her group

members for your participation. We are looking forward to hearing the results of

your discussions.

NCGA 2020 July Rules Quiz#5

(Excerpt by Ryan Farb, NCGA Director of Rules

and Competitions)

Which of the following is true?

A. Prior to a stroke play round, a player plays three practice strokes from the

fairway of a hole on the competition course. The player has committed their first

breach of Rule 5.2 and incurs a penalty of two strokes on the first hole.

B. Prior to a stroke play round, a player plays an approach shot from the fairway to

one of the putting greens on the competition course. The player then rolls the

ball on the putting green to the hole to test the surface. The player has incurred

two separate breaches of Rule 5.2 and incurs a total of four penalty strokes on the

first hole.

C. Prior to a stroke play round, a player plays two chip shots to the 18th green

which is near the clubhouse. The player is disqualified for the two breaches of

Rule 5.2

NCGA 2020 June Rules Quiz#4 Answer

(Excerpt by Ryan Farb, NCGA Director of Rules and Competitions)

In a four-ball stroke play, a player takes relief from a cart path. In

measuring the relief area from the nearest point of complete relief, the

player uses her partner’s driver, which is about three inches longer than

her own. She drops in the right way within an inch of the end of the one

club-length measurement and the ball stays on that spot. What is the

ruling?

A. To avoid penalty, the player must drop a ball within the length of

her own longest club other than a putter.

B. The player has proceeded correctly and must play the dropped ball

as it lies.

C. The player incurs a one-stroke penalty for dropping in the wrong

way and must drop the ball again.

New July Membership Meeting Changes

Zoom Meeting on Tuesday, July 7th, 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

See below for information updates

The Executive Board had changed the original July membership meeting from

Thursday, July 9th at 1:30 to Tuesday, July 7th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. We

were to meet at the Kilaga Springs Presentation Hall. The reason for this change

was that the LH Ladies18 would start staggered tee times beginning Thursday, July

2nd. We also realized that those signed up for later tee times would not have

enough time to play golf and make it to the meeting afterwards.

Kilaga Springs Presentation Hall was chosen as per COVID-19 guidelines

capacity. We could not meet at our usual room at Orchard Creek and sit with 6 ft.

distancing, or any other SCLH rooms/areas, such as Orchard Creek Ballroom, or

the outside amphitheater. Please note, that since current COVID-19 guidelines

are not lifted for approval to have meetings with more than 10 people, we are still

unable to meet in person with a larger group. Even if the meeting at Kilaga was

approved by SCLH for Stage 3 meetings, we could not have more than 50 people

in the KS Presentation Hall due to social distancing room limits. Since we want to

have as many of our 106 members to attend, the Board has made every effort to

meet and hear from everyone. Currently SCLH Board and other SCLH clubs have

been using Zoom technology for open meetings with great success. Details on how

to log-in to the meeting has been sent to everyone so as to become familiar with

the process. Thanks for your understanding and participation.

Club Championship

Gay Wold is the Club Championship Tournament Chairperson. She is asking

for a group of LH Ladies to volunteer to work on her committee. It is a 2-day

event scheduled on Thursday, September 17th and 24th. Please contact her

at: [email protected] if you would like to work on the committee. The

Executive Board with input from our Handicap Chair, Tournament Chair, and C.C.

Tournament Chair, have approved to lower the number of qualifying games from

10 to 5 this year, due to many members losing play day games because of COVID-

19 and early year poor weather. Last day to qualify for a minimum of 5 games is

Thursday, September 3rd (inclusive). We want everyone to join in the fun! Stay

tuned! This is always a great event!

**Please note that at this time, until further notice from Federal, State, Placer

County, and Lincoln Hills Golf Course, for COVID-19, all future Tournaments

are cancelled/TBD, as we are still not allowed to have regular play day

Tournaments. No shotgun start, No CTP, only staggered tee times, No sweeps, No

cash at the Pro Shop, No group meetings larger than 10 people, and face masks

must be worn in high traffic areas where social distancing cannot be followed.

Tournament- As some of you know, the LH Men's Club had their June

Tournament, but had to follow these guidelines. They could not meet as a group

before starting and results were posted on-line, with no group results meeting at the

end. The Men’s Club is currently not playing weekly, only once a month

Tournament with these same guidelines.

July 2nd- many of you have signed-up for a staggered tee time Thursday, July 2nd

on our club website. Here is the procedure if you have forgotten: Go to

lhlgxviii.com, then Play Days, then Sign-Ups, click the green "Sign Up Now" and

Select your Name, go to the Next Red Tab, find the date you wish to sign up

for. You can also follow the same guideline to cancel, as it is to sign-up. Tee

times will be assigned after the sign-up period is closed. For example, if you want

to sign up for Thursday, July 9th, the sign-up closes on Sunday July 4th at 5:00

p.m. You can also go to Golf Genius and sign up.
