SAVE and DONATEWednesday, May 20, 201511:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

As you prepare your closets for the spring and summer season, look through all those items you do not wear and pass them on to someone who could use them. Also, consider donating household items as you “freshen” your home from the winter. The Salvation Army will be parked outside the north side of Lincoln Centre, between the Hotel and Two Lincoln Centre. There will be an assistant to help you and to give you a tax receipt. The Salvation Army is presently in 126 countries, running charity shops, operating shelters for the homeless, and providing di-saster relief and humanitarian aid to develop-ing countries. Let's be a part of this mission.

PEEP, THE PARAKEETRescued at Lincoln Centre

A lost parakeet somehow found his way from the great outdoors of Midtown Dallas into the foyer of One Lincoln Centre last week, and was subsequently rescued by my colleague, Mi-chael, on his way into the building. He brought the bird up to our suite, shaking and terrified. We looked him over, and he seemed to be uninjured, although very hungry and confused. However, he was comfortable with us and would land on our shoulder or finger. We took him back outside, but he would follow us right back into the building. He liked Lincoln Centre! We decided to take him in to see if we could nurse him back to health and happiness. After giving him a name, Peep (like the Easter candy), and a quick trip to PetSmart for a cage, food, and some bird toys; we put Peep in his new home and voila, we had a new company mascot. He immedi-ately took to eating the litany of seed and foraging his treats (nearly 30 minutes straight) before stopping briefly for some sips of water and a cat nap. He is currently staying at an employee’s house and is living the good life, happy as a lark, well fed and loved. Ironically, his favorite place to be is INSIDE his new cage. I guess he tasted freedom and did not like it that much. Finding food and shelter on his own evidently was not working, and he needed to find people to care for him. He prefers the indoors with plenty of food, water, safety and AC. We don’t think he would have lasted too long in the wild. Submitted by Christopher Antonson of Aschere Energy

EARTH DAY ACTIVITIESAT LINCOLN CENTRE

• BALCONES RECYCLING PRESENTATION •Erin Twiss with Markit stopped by to inquire about the recycling program here at Lincoln Cen-tre. She was pleased to learn that blue plastic recycling containers are available for each desk, and that you may also put your empty plastic water bottles in these containers. The green canvas tote bags that were available to the tenants were especially appreciated. Last month, Lincoln Center's commitment to the environment helped divert 14.7 tons of commingled of-fice recyclables. As a result of your recycling efforts, the following resources were conserved:

250 Trees • 5,582 Gallons of Oil • 102,830 Gallons of Water60,229 Kilowatt Hours of Energy • 48.48 Cubic Yards of Landfill Space

• ELECTRONIC RECYCLING BY HOBI INTERNATIONAL •Tyrell Harris, left, and Alla Samsonova, right, from the office of Fox Rothchild were pleased that Hobi International was right here at Lincoln Centre to recycle their electronics in a manner that is safe for the environment and convenient. They were reassured that all items would be processed domestically in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations. Hobi Interna-tional collected 7,626 pounds of electronics to be recycled.

• ENERGY STAR CFL LIGHT BULBS •Sarah LaFountain, with the Summit Financial Group, was pleased to receive the CFL light bulb.In support of this year’s efforts to “Change the World, Start with Energy Star,” TIAA-CREF sup-ported their properties to give away free Energy Star qualified CFL light bulbs for the personal use of tenants. When installed, these bulbs will use 75% less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs, thus saving energy costs while having a positive impact on the environment.
