Operated by Earl & Pam Krueger. They farm 150 acres in Muscatine County just outside Letts, Iowa. Earl is a second generation grower for 32 years. Earl & Pam take great pride in knowing they are providing Hy-Vee and their customers with the best and freshest quality of locally grown produce. Look for produce from Krueger’s Farm, identified by signage on our in-store displays. Produces: Sweet Corn, Cantaloupe, Watermelon, Peppers, Cucumbers, Zucchini, Onions and Pumpkins
Northern Ridge Farm Oxford, Iowa (17 miles from Iowa City)
Run by David and Penny Lacina and David’s mom, Bonnie. The farm has been in the family for more than 80 years and recently has been reworked to cater to a more natural approach to producing food. In the last five years we’ve offered our goods at farmer’s markets around the area, and in the last couple of years opened a shop for our goods located right here on the farm. We wanted our community to be able to come out and see the gardens where their food was being grown. This year we will be expanding to five acres to meet the growing demand for locally grown and natural produce, and we invite you to visit and enjoy!
Kroul Farms Mount Vernon, Iowa (located just north Iowa City)
From our gardens to your kitchen table! Kroul Farms plants almost 20 acres of fresh produce each year, and pick it all summer long in order to maximize the growing season. We use crop rotation and advanced mulching techniques, as well as homegrown compost, to ensure that we’re responsibly growing the highest quality of produce possible. While Kroul Farms is not certified organic, our growing methods virtually eliminate the need for herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides.
Marvin, his wife Carolyn, and their son Kevin have been harvesting fresh sweet corn on about 700 acres of land in southeast Iowa City since 1972. They harvest each ear of corn by hand so the delicate corn kernals do not get bruised. Marvin’s favorite way to cook sweet corn? “I like to boil it. Most people over cook their corn, about 2 1/2 minutes is all you need.”
Part nature park, part orchard. Surrounded by old oak forest, the farm occupies both sides of a valley with Rapid Creek winding through the land. Joyce and Robert ‘Chug’ Wilson first fell in love with this ground in 1980 and set to work building an orchard of apples that tasted like apples should. They planted over 120 varieties over the years, all chosen based on one simple criterion: great taste.
”I wish we could have REAL tomatoes in May!” From this statement over 25 years ago, a family business was born. Ineichen Tomatoes has been a part of the community since 1986, growing vine-ripened tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. Over the years, their faithful customers wanted a place they could count on during the week to have the REAL tomatoes they needed. That’s why you can find them in all the local Hy-Vee stores!
TM
At Hy-Vee, we understand our customers desire for fresh, local products. That’s
why we created the Hy-Vee Homegrown program. When you see the Hy-Vee
Homegrown logo, you can have confidence that the produce was grown
within 200 miles of that store.

Together we can make a difference
Your Iowa City Coralville Area Hy-Vee Stores have converted more than 1.9 million pounds of edible food waste into 969 tons of compost.
• That is enough compost for a 8 acre gardenapplied at 2 inches deep.
• Compost also retains moisture in the soil, meaning approximately 969 tons would save 290,700 gallons of water to be used for irrigation of
lawns, gardens and crops.
