Dietrich Bonheoffer wrote, “The Christian needs another Christian who speaks God’s Word to him.” God has given us a great gift as His children, each other. The Christian life is a life of community. Many Christians see cooperate worship as something they HAVE to do on Sundays. Rather we should view those times as precious gifts from our Father and not as something we must suffer

through but something that we GET to enjoy. We need to see the deeper reason God has given us this privilege. The primary reason for gathering and relating to each other is our need for Christ. The writer of Hebrews writes, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but

let us ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER - and all the more as you see the Day approaching” (Heb. 10:25, NIV, emphasis added). As we move into these summer months when our calendars quickly fill up with all sorts of activities let us allow the Holy Spirit to search our hearts. Let us be

LOVE CLUB HOLDS FINAL MEETING OF 2015-16 CHURCH YEAR The LOVE Club held its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 11. Attendance (all ladies) was good. Ann Gibson presented devotional thoughts based on an article she had saved from the Christian Magazine Mature Living. The article had to do with a well-known verse of Scripture - Romans 8:28 - “All things work together for good if we love God and are fitting into his plans.” (The Living Bible)

President Debra Yates reminded the group of the Senior Rally later this month at Beverly Hills in Rockingham. Also, there will be a trip on Wednesday, May 18, to the property of Lindsey and Sandra Stedman for a travel back in time to the “Good ‘Ole Days.” They have an amazing array of things to see and do. Also, they are providing a free lunch!

The LOVE Club continues to reach out and help others in several different ways: supporting the Back Pack Kids food project and the Helping Hands food project, providing a delicious lunch at the Hamlet Soup Kitchen once a month, providing snack bags for the Second Baptist youth as they travel to their World Changers destination this summer.

The program was provided by Chris Thornton, Chaplain fro Richmond County Hospice. He shared a wealth of information about Hospice and also made available various brochures and leaflets. After his presentation, he had time for a Q and A (questions and answers).

President Yates announced that she has appointed a Nominating Committee to secure Love Club officers for the upcoming church year. Frances Altman spoke about the great need for committed workers in our organization (and in our church).

Several in our church family were remembered during our prayer time. As always, President Yates gave each attendee a gift - a yard decoration.

Charlotte Brunson Baptist Women’s Group Meets

The Charlotte Brunson Women’s Missionary Union group met Weds., May 4, for a regular monthly meeting. There was much discussion concerning whether or not to hold regular Meetings during June, July, and August. The group decided to meet without having a typical program planned.(In years gone by, the group did not meet during the summer months.)

Devotions and Missionary Prayer Leader Faye Hayes provided names of all Southern Baptist missionaries, including retired Missionaries having birthdays on May 4, presented devotional thoughts, and led in prayer. Many of the missionaries were listed by their initials only. Listings names would put them in danger.

Leader Janie Sims presented the program “Day to Remember” (Memorial Day) based on an article in a WMU magazine. She also discussed the work of OUR missionaries who are attempting to establish (to plant) a Southern Baptist Church in Washington, D.C.

The group planned to make a monetary donation to Hospice May 11 when a Hospice representative will be the speaker at the L.O.V.E. Club meeting.

To My Church Family,

Thanks for all the condolences to the family of Alice Freeman, they are appreciated. She is where she wants to be. She is happy.

Thanks again, Bob Weatherly

ATTENTION:

There will be no meetings for the Love Club, or Chair Volleyball during the

month of June, July, or August.

They will resume in September!
