LIGHT PAINTING
Experiments with slow shutter speed on a Nikon 3100 DSLR
Michael Bosanko – Light Painting Artist
Michael Bosanko discovered the technique of light painting by accident when photographing a moonlit landscape. He then experimented using a torchlight to ‘draw’ and since then he has embarked on a journey of experimentation.
To make these two light paintings I stood my camera on a tripod in a dark room. We set the shutter speed to 5 seconds, then drew our names with glow sticks. I had to touch it up a bit on Photoshop to make my name appear complete. I then changed the colour of my name by adjusting the hue and saturation as well as trimming any parts of the room that were lit by the glow stick.
My Light Paintings
This is another image I drew with a glow stick using the same process to trim any parts of the room lit by the glow stick and change the colour of it from green to red using the hue and saturation adjustment.
