Light on Peachtree Peachtree Road united methodist Church NEW WORSHIP EXPERIENCES IN 2014! JANUARY 2014 Earlier this fall, we announced the development of three new worship opportunities at Peachtree Road. We are pleased that the first of these three, an offering for children in grades 3-5 at 11:15 am in the children’s building, is underway. Martha Christopher and her ministry team have created a high energy, interactive experience that is getting rave reviews by the children and their parents alike. The service launched in mid-October, and attendance already is exceeding our hopes with over 65 present every Sunday. The second offering will begin on January 12, and is set for Sunday evenings at 5:00 pm in the chapel. In fact, the name of the service is “Sundays @ 5.” ( Not very original, but we think it works!) This service seeks to connect with people who could not be present for worship on Sunday morning. So, if you were out of town, involved with work or children’s commitments, or just couldn’t make it, you are invited to come- as-you-are to this 45 minute service. Finally, our third new offering, called “New Traditions,” will launch on February 16, and it will be an alternative service primarily targeting families with youth. This service, which will gather on Sunday mornings at 11:15 am, will incorporate modern music and liturgies. The initial meeting space will be in the room we now call “Heritage Hall” (formerly “Hall of the Apostles.”) Once the new student center is completed, this service will move to that space. We are excited about these new opportunities in worship. Each service will have its own unique character but will focus on the overall theme of worship for the day. Also, there will be a number of Sundays each year when we intentionally will gather as a church family to worship together in the sanctuary: Youth Sunday, Palm Sunday, Easter, Mother’s Day, Freedom Sunday, Harvest Sunday, Christmas, and others. Worship is a vital part of the life of Peachtree Road, and we believe these new options will help more people participate. COME WORSHIP AND CARRY ON!
