driver’s EdClassroom Trainingteach your teen to drive by the experts – colorado police officers! the 30 hours of classroom training, required by the State of colorado, is taught by Po-lice officers. Your teen will learn the rules of the road exclusively from State Police academy driving instructors, School resource officers, and police officers who have received honors as the best traf-fic investigators. approved by the State Depart-ment of motor vehicles, the completely interactive curriculum will focus on the rules and regulations of driving through interesting lectures with group discussions, games, and small group activities. Students will learn about basic car maintenance, how to change a tire, and what to expect on a traf-fic stop. Prepare them for a lifetime of safe driving with Driving School instructors who have the ‘real-life” advantage. Students must be 14-1/2 years old on the first day of class. the permit test will be administered on the last day of class and students must be within 30 days of their 15th birthday to take the test. if they are not within 30 days of their 15th birthday, they may arrange with the instructor to take the test at a later date. this class does not include the six hours of behind-the-wheel driving. u Driving School instructors consist of Colorado State Certified Academy Instructors, School Resource Offi-cers, and police officers who have received honors as the best traffic investigators.

end Distracted Driving — Keeping Your Kids Safeare you worried when your teen drives or is a passenger in a car with another teen driving? What chances does your teen take when driving alone or with other teens? texting and cell phones, eating, changing cDs, and applying make-up while driving all increase the odds of a crash dramatically. explore the misconceptions about distracted driving in an engaging presentation with your teens. Provide your teen with the resources to decide whether his or her driving behaviors need to change, the skills to speak up as a passenger when a driver is driving unsafely, and the rules for driving safely for everyone in the family, including mom and dad. u Joel Feldman and Dianne Anderson are the parents of 21-year-old Casey Feldman who was killed by a distracted driver and has become a national symbol of the toll of distracted driving. They have worked with the USDOT and regional traffic safety organizations, legislators and law enforcement, creating public service announcements, establishing EndDD.org and have spoken with thousands of teens and parents about pedestrian safety and distracted driving issues.

spanish for Educators level 1the focus of Beginning Spanish for educators level 1 is the acquisition of basic language struc-tures and vocabulary. Students’ ability to communicate the intended message orally will be em-phasized over grammatical accuracy. the course will employ kinesthetic learning strategies that reflect first-language acquisition, which makes retention automatic and allows students to con-nect their Spanish directly to the spatial/social world instead of to the english translation. a $10 materials fee is payable to the instructor at class. u John Beckwith first learned Spanish by doing business and living in Mexico. He followed up with a BA in Spanish and a MA in Education and has shared the fun of Spanish with all levels of students for 10 years.
