Every Child Should Be Loved

— In His Service for Life, Jane Chavez, Executive Director [email protected]

Planned Parenthood may have the mantra “Every child should be a wanted child,” but we at the Pregnancy Help Center have a practice and belief that “Every child should be loved.”

Abortion promoters recognize the sorry state of being unwanted and what is done with unwanted children is deadly. But, being loved is better than being wanted; no child should ever be discarded. The child who is loved will never be a burden, because

love is stronger than any burden. In fact, love can transfigure burdens into blessings.

Many times a young woman sitting in our nurse’s office will receive news that she perceives as initially devastating. She must come to trust what our medical team shares and encourages her to know. Many of our young women explain that their parents will be so upset that they will “kill her” or “kick her out of the home.” These women are sure this pregnancy will shatter hopes, dreams and life.

We all know that the right thing to do may not always be the easiest thing to do.

We at the Pregnancy Help Center provide the tools and encouragement for women to choose the “right thing.” By honoring the gift of life, each woman can display unselfish love by providing her baby with the best foundation, whether it be parenting herself or giving the baby the opportunity to be adopted—because “Every child should be loved.”

Please join me in thanking the Medical Team of the Pregnancy Help Center for their compassion and quality care for each client who visits the Center. Often, sessions end with a client exiting and leaving the team with heavy hearts. Many times we don’t know what the decision will be for the baby, so we ask for your prayers and support for all who enter and exit our doors. We ask blessings for all—our staff, our young woman, their friends and family. We all deserve to be loved.

Lifelines Summer 2015 3

Our work at the Pregnancy Help Center focuses a lot

on women who find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy and come to us confused, not knowing what to do or who to turn to. These are life-changing times, and our counseling and patience helps clear their minds to determine their future.

But there is more to this process than just addressing the anxiety of an expectant mother. The child developing in the mother’s womb affects many:

Support for Allthe father, spouse, boyfriend, acquaintances and of course, the grandparents.

Last year we revised our Mission Statement to read, “The Pregnancy Help Center of the San Gabriel Valley, Inc. provides support to those experiencing a crisis pregnancy.” I underscored the word “those” to point out we have written our Mission Statement to show our availability is to anyone who is experiencing anxiety or needs guidance and counseling due to the pregnancy, not just

the mother. We are here for everyone who needs us.

I thank all of you who have donated your time and/or money to the Center. As you know, we receive no government funding. Our only income comes from our donors, several foundations that have considered our requests for grants, and various church communities. To all of you, we are truly grateful. Your continued support keeps this engine running and makes a difference in saving lives. Y

Reasons for HopeBy Paula Orlandini, Auxiliary Pres.

Since 2008 the Auxiliary of the Pregnancy Help Center of San

Gabriel has struggled a bit, but this year we are seeing a turnaround in activity that brings all of us hope! We had a successful membership drive at the beginning of the year, followed by a well-attended luncheon in February and capped off with our well-received Mother’s Day event.

Part of this success I attribute to the wonderful Emma Stewart being honored at the Cardinal Award’s dinner this year. Her recognition—along with the informative presentation produced by the Center—helped shine a spotlight on our organization and the work we do to a broader public.

We look forward to being of service in 2016. I’m always available for any questions or concerns; contact me via email [email protected] or phone 626-794-2907. Thank you for your support of this very important cause! Y
