LIFEhouse now Life Journal Entry By Brian Butler The Only Hope for a Hurting World Scripture: I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in Him! The Lord is good to those who depend on Him, to those who search for Him. Lamentations 3:24-5 Observation: This was a good reminder today and fit nicely with what I was meditating on while I walked this morning. While I was walking I was thinking of how I have hope in Jesus but there are so many people in the world that have no hope. They just want to give up. They just go through life looking for something better. They have pain in their life and they let the pain dictate and control them rather than letting the Lord be in control. They let the pain direct them rather than listening to the counsel of the Lord. They allow the pain to paralyze them so they live a life of tediousness and fear rather than a life of peace and joy. In this life we must remember: “If God is for us, then who can ever be against us?” My hope is not in my religion, my work, my 401K, my family or friends. The only hope I have is in the Lord. It is comforting to read that He is good to those who depend on and search for Him. Jesus is the only hope for this hurting world. Application: Let me have a heart that continually seeks, searches, and depends upon the Lord. Let me be uplifted that the Lord blesses those who depend upon Him. Let me have a heart and mind that depends only on the Lord and no other; not even myself. Let me be humble and depend upon the Lord for everything. Prayer: Lord, help me to have a heart that depends only upon You. Help me to continually search for You, for Your wisdom, peace, love, mercy, grace, power, and glory. I pray all this in Jesus’ mighty and holy name. Amen. “Only by His wonderful grace can we see from His perspective, rejoice always, and continually give thanks. Only by His life in us can we walk in humility and live together in the victory of His cross. Only by His Spirit in us can we obey His Word and follow His ways. Therefore we can thank Him -- not only for the sunny days and happy moments -- but even more for those things that show us our need and draw us closer to Him.” – Oswald Chambers
