Lifecare Times MONTHLY NEWSLETTER Inspired by You! 02 February 1st was a big day for Lifecare Oklahoma Personal Services. They’ve now committed to using HealthWyse, full time. HealthWyse is our new clinical and financial software, and our other areas in Hospice, Home Health and Shawnee offices will be following suit shortly. HealthWyse offers round the clock web- access to our nurses and ensures patient data remains secure. Like Lifecare, HealthWyse is a company, focused on continuous improvement. Switching to their services and will help us be ready to advance with future technology and be more adaptable to changes in the industry. Kourtney Scism who handles Admissions for Lifecare Oklahoma Personal Services feels the new software is, “much easier to use… for instance it even reminds me to ask patients if they have pets so, I can give the nurses a heads up on that.” For Scism, the transition has been simple so far, she says, “everything that I’ve done, I’ve actually caught on pretty quickly because it’s so easy to use.” This new system actually helps prevent you from making mistakes and for admissions referrals it already, “cuts the time in half, to actually getting a start of care going.” Healthwyse has helped Sara Hoey, as well to, “easily see everything that is unassigned” when working on scheduling. HelathWyse offers on call availability for people out in the field which makes it a lot more efficient at being able to allow information to become more accessible to everyone involved. Sara also pointed out that you don’t have to call to see if a nurse has checked in with a patient she is now able to see that through HealthWyse without interrupting nurses who are meeting with patients. There have been some bumps along the way and learning any new software can seem daunting Lifecare Oklahoma is already seeing some great results in the Personal Services area and our other departments will soon see its advantages as they follow suit. February 1st was a big day for Lifecare Oklahoma Personal Services. They’ve now committed to using HealthWyse, full time. HealthWyse is our new clinical and financial software, and our other areas in Hospice, Home Health and Shawnee offices will be following suit shortly.

HealthWyse offers round the clock web-access to our nurses and ensures patient data remains secure. Like Lifecare, HealthWyse is a company, focused on continuous improvement. Switching to their services and will help us be ready to advance with future technology and be more adaptable to changes in the industry.

Kourtney Scism who handles Admissions for Lifecare Oklahoma Personal Services feels the new software is, “much easier to use… for instance it even reminds me to ask patients if they have pets so, I can give the nurses a heads up on that.”

For Scism, the transition has been simple so far, she says, “everything that I’ve done, I’ve actually caught on pretty quickly because it’s so easy to use.” This new system actually helps prevent you from making mistakes and for admissions

referrals it already, “cuts the time in half, to actually getting a start of care going.”

Healthwyse has helped Sara Hoey, as well to, “easily see everything that is unassigned” when working on scheduling.

At Lifecare Oklahoma we’ve been working with Third Degree Advertising the last year and they’ve been doing an outstanding job with our campaign. Last month at the Oklahoma City Advertising Federation award ceremony Third Degree Advertising won several awards at the “Addy’s” for the wonderful work they’ve been doing for Lifecare Oklahoma.Third Degree has found that “Lifecare patients were overwhelmingly positive about their experiences. The nurses consistently go beyond providing basic services and become like family; they truly care about the people they help. At its core, the Lifecare brand could be characterized as a knowledgeable expert with genuine integrity who always goes the extra mile with care and compassion. We determined a testimonial-based approach would be the

most effective way to share this story and position Lifecare as the best choice in their market.” (Taken from Third Degree‘s w e b s i t e )Third Degree has used interviews with

Lifecare nurses, patients and of course Karen Valhberg to help give identity to the name Lifecare. They’ve used personal imagery and experiences throughout our advertising campaign and that has brought them 5 awards.

If you take a look at the Employee Recognition board at Lifecare Oklahoma in Norman you’ll see one name coming up again and again and that’s Diane Elledge Hospice LPN. A recent son of a Hospice patient described Elledge as one of the people that “always went the extra mile.” Elledge consistently gets the kind of feedback we try to embrace at Lifecare Oklahoma. After raising two children while doing jobs like working on a Braum’s dairy farm, her daughter encouraged her to get into the health field. She did some work as a home health aide and really enjoyed it so she decided to go to LPN school. She originally had second thoughts about going back to school at her age but with her daughter’s encouragement she decided to take the leap and has never regretted it. Elledge is always happiest when working with people.

She encourages others to, “Be patient. It is a very rewarding field, spiritually rewarding, not everyone can do hospice, there has to be a certain level of maturity that goes with hospice and a dedication and a laid back-ness at the same time that comes with hospice. Nursing never stops. Patients need to know they can call you. You want them to know that you’re truly available for them even if they just need to talk for their emotional support whenever they need it.” Elledge really feels that her time working as a Hospice LPN for Lifecare Oklahoma has helped her to, “learn more about living -- from the dying than anything else.” Elledge loves being able to help families and their loved ones. Pam

Campell says “Diane did an excellent job taking care of my father and my family when he was on hospice.”Diane has seven lovely Grandchildren. She sees her daughter’s two children every week. She’s a family first, career second person and just enjoys spending her free-time being a top notch

Grandma. For Diane, every day is spent caring for others. “I’m happiest when I’m with people” Diane says.
