Classroom Expectations for Success

Respectful of teacher and peers at all times. Be prepared to work – bring paper, pencil and

pens everyday. Try your best on all assignments, even if they

are hard. Begin the bell ringer as soon as you sit down. Have homework on desk at the beginning of

class. Always have an AR book with you to read.

Classroom Routines and Procedures

Entering Class: Enter through the door quietly. Sit down in your assigned seat as soon as you enter. Start working on the bell ringer-posted on the

agenda daily. If you need to sharpen your pencil, do so before the

late bell. Conversations and visitation with friends should be

done in the hallway, not in the classroom. Be in your seat when the late bell rings.

Classroom Routines and Procedures

Restroom/Water Requests: The time to use the restroom and get water is during

class transitions. Do not ask to go until class has been in session for 45

minutes UNLESS IT IS AN EMERGENCY. The cost to get water or use the restroom is 25 Redskin

Register points. Do not interrupt classroom discussion with a request to

leave, wait until the work session. Time limit for restroom/water is 3 minutes. All assignments are due in the allotted time, consider

this when requesting to go.

Pencil Sharper during class: Ask permission. Do not sharpen during instruction unless told

to do so. Only one person at the sharpener at a time. Quietly go to the sharpener with out disturbing

anyone. Sit back down immediately.

Asking questions: Raise your hand and wait until acknowledge

by the teacher. Do not ask off topic or inappropriate

questions. Do not walk to the teacher to ask a

question.

Sign out / Sign in: Sign the sign-in and sign-out sheet every time

you leave the room. Enter your name, date, destination, and time

before you leave. When you return, enter the time of arrival. Failure to do so will result in infractions.

Group Procedures: Teacher chooses groups. All members must participate to receive a grade. Talk to only the members of your group and the

teacher. Rate each member on their work after an

assignment is completed. Do not move to other groups or speak to other

group members.

Paper Heading Procedures: Place your first and last name on the upper

right hand side of the paper. Date under your name. On the top line write the assignment’s

name.

Throwing away trash: Trash should not be thrown away during the

block. Throw all trash away as you leave the room.

Missing Supplies: Pencils can be purchased for 25 redskin

register points. Paper can be purchased for 10 redskin

register points (10 pieces) Place your redskin register on your desk. Raise your hand and ask to purchase a pencil

or paper.

Walking as a class in the hallway: Form a line in between the lab table and board. Line leader may lead the class into the hallway when

the class is silent. The last person out of the classroom should turn off

the light and close the door. Line should not have gaps. Line should be two squares from the wall. Do not touch the wall or any doors as you walk past. No noise – Classes are in session and can not be

disturbed.

Procedures for a CODE RED-Intruder: Without sound move to the science closet. The lights will be turned off. The teacher will make sure the door is locked. You may sit or stand. Wait without noise until the all clear is sounded. Return to your desk and resume work.

Procedures for a fire drill: Leave through the back emergency door. The classroom lights should be off. Line up by the baseball field. Listen for your teacher to call your name. Wait quietly for further instructions. When all clear is sounded follow your teacher back

into the building. Stay in one line; do not mix with another class. Return to your desk and resume work.

Procedures for a CODE BLUE-Bomb: Leave through the back emergency door. The classroom lights should be off. In a line go quickly and quietly to the track field. Sit in the designated bleacher area. Wait quietly for further instructions. When all clear is sounded wait to be dismissed back

into the building. Stay in one line; do not mix with another class. Return to your desk and resume work.

Procedures for a tornado drill/alert: Enter into the hallway. Classroom lights should be off and door left open. Sit on your knees facing the wall. Do not block the doorway. Place your head down and cover it with your hands. Wait quietly for further instructions. When all clear is sounded wait to be dismissed back

into the classroom. Quietly reenter the classroom. Return to your desk and resume work.

Consequences

Infractions: are given for minor behavioral problems that

occur in the classroom 6th Infraction = Office Referral

Referrals: Certain misbehaviors are automatic office

referrals-see handbook

Rewards

Redskin Register points are points that are recorded by your classroom teacher to your Redskin Register when you are caught following the 3R’s inside the classroom.

A Gotcha is a ticket that is worth 5 points. It is given to you when you are caught following the 3R’s outside the classroom.

Prizes can be purchased with your accumulated register points from the prize case outside of the office.

EBIS BASH this reward occurs once a nine weeks. You can purchase a pass for 30 minutes of free time where drinks and snacks are sold.

Grades

Grading Scale- 40% Daily/Quizzes 40% Test/Performance Task/Projects 20% Exams

Progress Reports are sent home weekly. Students may rework any assignments they fail or are missing for a grade of 75%. In order to receive this credit the progress report must be signed and attached.

Weekly:– progress reports are sent home with updated notes on

them Each Nine Weeks:

– PTO is held– Report Cards are sent home

Twice a year:– Parent Night is held with classes, conferences, dinner

and guest speakers– Pastries for Parents is breakfast with your child during

1st block and any new school information is given
