Benefits of a membership

As a Life Card holder you will have access to all four Sports Centres in Blaenau Gwent; Abertillery, Ebbw Vale, Nantyglo and Tredegar. A Life monthly member will also have unlimited use of the following during public sessions:

• Swimming Pools• Hydroslides*• Lifestyle Fitness Studios • Free Weights• Health Suite (Jacuzzi, Sauna)• Racquet Sports• Fitness Classes

*Hydroslides are only available on Junior and Family Life @ Ebbw Vale Sports Centre

Are there any hidden charges?

No! – All Life Members will have a FREE gym induction which would normally cost £5.50.Thiswill take place on your first visit to theSportsCentre. Also, unlike many other direct debit gym memberships there is no 12 month contract, no joining fee, cancellation fee and no hidden charges just the monthly fee until you wish to cancel.

Try something new…

We offer a full range of exciting and fun activities you may enjoy and most are available through the Life Membership Scheme.

Aqua Fit - A cardio and toning class that works against the resistance of the water.

Fit Ball - A total body toning class which focuses on your core body strength.

Circuit Training - A total mix up of hi/low impact cardiovascular stations amongst toning exercises makes this an excellent class.

Zumba – A class which fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms creating a fun workout that is more like attending a party than an exercise class. Additional charge applied for Zumba

Step - Astepclasstoworkyouaerobically,combinedwithtoningexercisestofirmyou up! An excellent class with simple to medium choreography.

Total Body Conditioning –Isafuntoningandfirmingclassthattargetsproblemareas, It’s taught to uplifting music as some of the exercises can be repeated to get maximum effort out of each body part exercised.

Triple Challenge – 20 minutes of aerobics, step and body conditioning; the perfect all over body workout.

Yoga - Agentleexerciseregimetoputaspringbackintoyourstep.Benefitsincludegreaterflexibility,increasedstaminaandstrengthalongwithasenseofwellbeing.Additional charge applied for Yoga.

Urban Rebounding - Is performed entirely on a specially designed high quality, spring-enhanced mini-trampoline with a non-slip surface. The class is fun, safe with its effective style of aerobics that provides a surprisingly challenging cardiovascular workout.

* Young persons must be between 16 - 25 & in full time education. Each individual must provide proof of full time education. e.g letter of acceptance.

** The Junior Life Card allows children aged 12-16 to have their own card and choose what facilities they would like to use, without an adult having to join as well. Junior members must also be 16 years old to access both the free weights room andeveryfitnessclass

Concessionary

Concessions are offered to anyone meeting the following eligibility criteria:

A. Registereddisabled(documentaryconfirmationrequired)B. Income support (proof required)C. Job seeker’s allowance (income based)D. Unemployed 16-18 year olds (proof required from Social Security Department).

Card PhotographThe Life Membership Scheme requires a photograph of all our members.

This prevents unauthorised usage by a third party.

The photographs cannot be accessed for unauthorised use and under no circumstances passed to a third party.

Passport photos are not required - a web camera will capture this at receptiononyourfirstvisittooneofourfourSportCentres.

Blaenau Gwent Sports Centre staff reserve the right to refuse membership if a customer does not wish to have their photo taken.

CancellationsIf you wish to leave the Life Membership Scheme, the card will still be active as a “pay as you visit” facility and the usual standard charges per activity will apply.

Members opting out of the Life options will be required to notify their bank and give one months notice to cancel the direct debit mandate.

Unlike many other direct debit gym membership agreements there is no cancellation fee or hidden charges with the Life Membership Scheme.

You may cancel free of charge anytime you wish.

pricing policy.

• The membership covers the period of one calendar month.

• You will only be able to join Life through Blaenau Gwent Sports Centres.

• Life membership is subject to the Admission Policy of Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council Sports Centres, e.g. Under 8’s Swimming Policy, Lifestyle Studio inductions where applicable etc.

• There will be a £2 charge for replacement Life membership cards.

• Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council is not responsible for damage or loss of member’s property whilst using the facilities, unless the damage or loss was due to a negligent act or omission by the Authority.

• Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council reserve the right to amend the membership options and activities offered.

• You are entitled as part of the Life membership scheme to book activities/classes in advance, however failure to turn up for booking will result in the cost of that activity being applied to your membership account. The amount in full must be settled before future booking will be accepted.

• Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council will endeavour to ensure that equipment and machines are maintained in full working order. At times, equipment breakdown or essential maintenance may mean that facilities are not available. We will attempt to ensure that any closure of facilities is kept to a minimum.

• You agree to observe and abide by all membership rules, admission policies and safety rules. Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council reserves the right to withdraw the use of facilities from any member who commits a serious and/or repeated breach of membership rules.

• Blaenau Gwent Sports Centre staff reserve the right to refuse membership if a customer refuses to have their photo taken. The Family Membership Scheme will require all family members to have their photographs taken to reduce the potential for fraudulent use. Consent is therefore required for under 16’s to have their photographs taken.
