Life, Love, Happiness -- What's Life Really? Shrink and Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl once wrote, "Life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose." For most of US, feeling joyful and finding life purposeful are both connected and significant goals. But do meaning and happiness go together? It seems improbable, given that a lot of the items that people regularly elect to do - from running marathons to raising children - are unlikely to raise our day-to-day happiness. I find life enjoyable, fascinating, amusing, a new experience... though I accept that it could be taken away at any time, which means you must be happy with your daily life and ready to die for any given second. Morbid? No. Fair? Yes.
