The Monthly Newsletter of FBC Lake Placid f FBC LIFE LINE June 2016 Pastoral Thoughts Its in the everyday occurrences of life that we find ourselves becoming lost in the world or focused on worshiping God. The very thing that drives one person to pray may drive another person into worry and stress. If I asked you what you are con- cerned about right now I am prey sure you would have an answer for me. Jesus came to die for the sinners. You and I are a part of that gang. He died and rose again to be with us, and He admonishes us to lay our cares upon Him. We are called to trust Him for every- thing and not worry about anything. Basically, He tells us to handle the day and dont worry about tomorrow, be- cause it will take care of itself. That is so much easier to say than do. Over the Summer months we are going to be dealing will LIFE UNDER THE SUN. Our everyday lives that have mil- lions of details are the playing field for us to display our trust in God and our lack of fear for the future. In Ecclesiastes, we find Solomon searching and finding some knowledge through his life under the sun. In our searching of what He wrote, we will look to see where we find Jesus calling out to us through redeeming me and life. Because here is the thing. When we crash into the details of life that are both awe- some and tragic, we are faced with at least 2 opons that we could take. We could get so lost in the details that we lose sight of following Jesus or we could recognize that God has introduced this for a reason. And that reason is to display Jesus all through it! Come find the gospel in Ecclesiastes as we explore Life Under The Sun. Pastoral Thoughts It’s in the everyday occurrences of life that we find ourselves becoming lost in the world or focused on worshiping God. The very thing that drives one person to pray may drive another person into worry and stress. If I asked you what you are con-cerned about right now I am pretty sure you would have an answer for me. Jesus came to die for the sinners. You and I are a part of that gang. He died and rose again to be with us, and He admonishes us to lay our cares upon Him. We are called to trust Him for every-thing and not worry about anything. Basically, He tells us to handle the day and don’t worry about tomorrow, be-cause it will take care of itself. That is so much easier to say than do. Over the Summer months we are going to be dealing will LIFE UNDER THE SUN. Our everyday lives that have mil-lions of details are the playing field for us to display our trust in God and our lack of fear for the future. In Ecclesiastes, we find Solomon searching and finding some knowledge through his life under the sun. In our searching of what He wrote, we will look to see where we find Jesus calling out to us through redeeming time and life. Because here is the thing. When we crash into the details of life that are both awe-some and tragic, we are faced with at least 2 options that we could take. We could get so lost in the details that we lose sight of following Jesus or we could recognize that God has introduced this for a reason. And that reason is to display Jesus all through it! Preschool:

It’s time for one of our favorite themes of all time—Creation Station! We can’t wait for your preschoolers to see the amazing train cars we’ve created for them. Each train car depicts a different day of creation in a fun and imaginative way.

Every week, we will introduce your preschoolers to one day of creation. Now, don’t panic because there aren’t enough days in June to cover all the days. The Creation Station unit will run through all of July as well. And, I’ll let you in on a little secret—when we get to day six, we’ll stay there for two weeks so we can emphasize the special relationship God has designed for us to have with Him.

MaxKidz:

This summer, we get to view the story of Jesus through a man whose life was radically changed when he encountered the story of Jesus. He went from a person who did whatever it took to stop the message of Jesus from spreading to one who ended up writing most of the New Testament of the Bible and dying for his faith in Jesus.

This man, as you may have already guessed, is Paul. He went all over the known world preaching the Story of Jesus. We’ll explore where in the world Paul was and how we fit into his story, too.

Multiply Youth Ministry:

School is over and summer is here! In a few short weeks we will be heading off to X-Fuge summer camp with over 20 of the finest young men and women in LP. We are looking forward to the camp’s theme of UNASHAMED!

This summer we will be renovating the Youth Room to give our students a true place that is all their own. When the renovations are complete we will be moving Wednes-day night youth group from the sanctuary to our new space. We are excited about what God is doing in our youth as they continue to learn what it looks like to be disci-ples who do life together. Paul von Merveldt, Family Life Pastor

Wee Center News The Pre-K Graduation was on May 27th. We had a huge attendance and the chil-dren did a fantastic job with their songs and Bible verse which was John 8:12 fol-lowed by lighting candles and the song “This Little Light of Mine”. Thank you to all the people that made this event so special. We could not have done this without your help!

A huge thank you goes out to Steve Blount for donating and spreading the mulch on the playgrounds!! You are such a blessing to us!! School is out June 2nd and summer camp is underway. We have field trips for Elementary to go to the movies. All classes will have splash days and summer parties.

Parents are looking forward to the free lunch program again. This program will begin June 6th. This is an opportunity for the parents to have a break from packing daily lunches. We are looking for-ward to a fantastic summer and we will give God the glory for all things! Vicki Nettles, Wee Center Director

Family Groups I recently heard a testimony from a gentleman who was singing the praises of his Family Group here at FBC. Like so many of us, his past experiences with church has been more about rules and less about love. . .religious spirit but not Holy Spirit. He became discouraged and eventually stopped attending. But all that changed when he was invited to a Family Group in our community. As he began to “do life” with his small group, he discovered the spiritual growth he was looking for. His group encourages him, prays with and for him, and keeps him fo-cused on following Jesus. In turn, he wants to do the same for others. Sounds like disciples making disciples to me :) Hearing this testimony encourages me and I hope it encourages you. We weren’t made to go it alone. If you’d like help getting plugged in with a small group of believers, give me a shout. You can reach me at 863.441.0037 or [email protected]. Also you can check out the Family Groups page on our website and see a listing of current Family Groups meeting at www.fbclp.com . Heidi Davis, Link Group Coordinator [email protected] /863.441.0037
