Behind the idea

Well what can I say this issue has been a nightmare, the amount of times we have installed this program and cracked it is unreal, its been a long 2 months so this issue is packed with goodness a whop-ping pages. We were going to include issue 6 within it but felt that would just look silly.

So what have we been up to, well in this issue read how we had to great jams. The first was held here in Liverpool by Frank Somdee his fair well jam as he was go-ing to Thailand for a month Great dude should search him on youtube. anyways that was great fun our second jam was at Formby Beach was a fun day there be-came amazing once the Red Bull Wings Team arrived , had lots of free wings of them,

Also a feature on James Harkness and newly recruited Adam Martin so check those out. Plus there’s the mini adverts and links pages. Airborn Sessions are all on go and holding a charity ses-sion this Saturday should be great. Boost,Redbull,Canon and random oth-ers stuff.

This mag has taken us ages to get to-gether even the upload was a pain in the ass so please enjoy and happy days.

James

LUKE REECE SHOWREEL 2011

Hey guys! This is my first showreel, I have been working on this for about 7 or 8 Months! My original edit using windows movie maker failed because it would not publish so I re-edited it in my other software, it took me another day to do so, so its not an amazing edit unfortunately. I would really appreciate it if you wouldn’t pick out the stuff you dislike and just focus on the effort and my love for this art!

Many thanks for the people who helped me make this video, the people who helped me become as good as I am today, everyone who has stood by me and suported me and most of all my team! x

FRANKS JAM

Frank Somdee was set to go to Thailand for a month, so to say goodbye a jam was held in Liver-pool. It was the most fun we have had so far, at the jam there was.

James,Luke,Scott, Frank of course Ian,Callum, Josh, Ben, Terry, Qa-sim and a bunch of others. We were met by Derek who is a profes-sional Photographer and agreed to take a few shots of us.these can be found by CLICKING HERE.

Page 10: LIFE - issue 5

To start the day we began training in Saint John’s Gar-dens, which is a big location for the freerunners who visit and live in Liverpool. Scott quickly got things going with a high flying back layout soon followed by a 360.

others were busy scalling a 30ft wall, this was actually very fun and the hieght peo-ple were getting was amazing.

THE ROCKSAfter we had warmed up and got comfortable with our body, we moved on to the Mersey gap. This has been a key hot spot for practitioners but has seen not much action due to police always moving us on, however we did enjoy what time we had there and got some great shots. Derek was always on hand with his camera as in this shot of Frank.

The rocks was the most time we spent all day. With huge precision jumps and stride pos-sibilities. There was a patch of grass close by in which every-one started busting out some top moves, best moves of the day was Frank and Terry’s joint backflip Palm spin abit of Rus-sian style.

FORMBY BEACH JAM

12th April was set for Formby Beach and a tone of practitioners, Wrong. 4 of us and two friends others came but left early, but this was a a very fun day with or without your love (laughs) we arrived at Freshfields at about 11.10 then a 30 minute walk up to Formby beach to be greeted by sun, sand and wind (not so good) we instantly stripped and bailed for the sand dunes. The heat of the sand was crazy hot but we were rescued by the Red Bull Wings Team on hand with Free Wings

Once refiiled and energized we threw down some sick gainers and 360’s, we became crazy people and went for a swim well Luke and Graham did (laughs) front stroke and everthing. we had such a fun day and from the photos we got you can see how much fun there was to be had. Head over to our Facebook page and website for more photos and a short clip of footage we got.

JAMES HARKNESS

STATISTICS:

Height: 6ft 2Shoe size: 11Hair: BrownEye: Blue

BIO:

James has been training for 3 years and is quite the character. He has a mixed of talents in the art of parkour/freerun and also in the art + design world.

“ When I first found this move-ment, I didn’t really know how to act and what to do. I would just go out find a wall and do stuff. For the first year it was all about exploring and getting to grips with things. Not having a gym to train on those more advanced moves slowed me down in progressing. Yet it has helped me become more aware of my surroundings.

ADAM MARTIN

STATISTICS:

Hair: BROWN Shoe: 8Hieght: 5FT 10Eye: BLUE/GREEN

INTERESTS:Music taste is rather varied, ill listen to any-thing as long as it sounds good, heavy bass and a nice beat that I can groove to ;), I used to skate for about 2 years but just became bored with how repetitive it was then I started parkour.

BIO:I began parkour when JP came into my school about a year ago to do a few workshops to pre-pare for a show in the school, I really got into it but never really carried it on after the show, after a few months I decided to go back to the gym in november of last year and just com-pletely fell in love with it again, the main thing that inspires me in parkour and freerunning is the hunger to progress, seeing something that ill really want to do and just focusing on that one goal until I finally achieve it, and no matter how long it takes once you have it, its the feeling of accomplishment that keeps me going. And

that’s why I love it.

I had been wanting to do something more in the Pk/FR community and since day 1 of my own traininghad the idea of a Magazine in the back of my head. I have always been partial to magazines, ezines and print, because growing up in the Midwest United States I was very into the sport compact car scene. The problem wasour state was a major manufacture of American cars and the Scene wasn’t very big where I was, so naturally Iturned to magazines to keep me informed . They always made me feel like I was more apart of what was happening, andI didn’t feel like I was missing out . Skip forward about 8 years, now Living in Southern California, Very heavily involved in the Pk/Fr movement here in the states.I remembered what those magazines had done for me when I was younger, kept me involved, up on the current events, and apart ofwhat was happening .

I wanted to be able to do that for all the people out there that are training on their own, in small groupsor know whats going on but just want more of it, and of course for entertainment as well!.

The idea was in my head when I was on a trip to New York and New Jersey. While on the trip I got to spend time with Yoann Lerux , Epic,Andrew Wood, Robbie Corbett and a Host of other amazing Athletes. I voiced my Idea to the guys, and it was received warmly, and Brian Taylor(Now 1 of my Partners in 24-7) reminded me that he was a Graphic/Web Designer among other things . So, I decided to Ask Yoann if he wouldlike to be our first featured athlete and now we are here and working on Issue #3 .

What the Future of 24-7 looks like, well We are re-ally pushing hard to get the Printed version of our magazine out. We are looking to dobetween 5000 and 10000 every month.
