I learned that there is the brain stem, the reptilian brain, the emotional brain and the thinking brain. I liked that we got to have a ‘look’ inside Lucas’ brain. By Kana Our brain is a special organ in our body. There are four bits of your brain. The first bit of your brain is called the brain stem. You brain stem sends messages to your body. The second bit is called the reptilian brain. The third bit is the emotional brain, When you get angry, upset or worried your emotional brain takes over and you ‘flip your lid’. To calm down you need to make your lid go back in place. You can do the sleepy hedge- hog and some breathing exercises. You could do five finger breathing or like you are smelling a hot chocolate and cooling it down. The last bit of your brain is the thinking brain, it is how we have ideas and learn. By Jadis During our visit to the life education truck I learned about our emotions like sad, happy, or worried. We can calm down by taking three breaths. When you do the breath you can think of someone you love, favourite colour. If you feel scared go and do something you enjoy and have fun. I liked Harold because he did jokes to us and he came out a little door and it was relaxing. By Fletcher I learned that there are four different parts of the brain. The brain stem sends messages to our body. It tells my hand to itch. The reptilian brain and the third bit is the emotional brain and lastly the thinking brain. I liked that we learned about our brain and how it helps us. By Isabella I enjoyed the jokes with Harold, they were funny. One joke was: What do you call a fairy that never washes? A stink-a- bell. I learnt breathing exercises. One was so cool because you had to look around the room for your favourite flashing light and also look around for twinkling stars! Strategies I would use to calm my farm is the hot chocolate breathing exercise. So what you do is imagine there is a hot chocolate in your hands and then smell it and then blow on it because it is hot. By Aliyah Alchin Harold the Giraffe as drawn by Caitlin Elliott
