An engaging academic environment is just the start of your Alverno experience. Life on our campus is busy and vibrant. Student organizations of all kinds, athletic events, performing arts, thought-provoking forums — there’s always an opportunity to connect, learn, have fun and try something new.

With 30+ student organizations and numerous leadership opportunities, it’s easy to connect with new friends and to seek out new adventures.

Alverno is located in Milwaukee’s Jackson Park neighborhood with easy access to shops and restaurants. Plus, Milwaukee itself offers great hiking trails, museums, festivals, sporting events and more.

Ready to explore our world? Alverno’s International and Intercultural Center offers short- and long-term study abroad opportunities, as well as year-round multicultural programming.

Through the NCAA Division III and Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, Alverno offers basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball teams. More of a spectator? Come out and cheer on the Alverno Inferno!

You have access to free on-site health and wellness services.

We are a Catholic and Franciscan school, but our campus ministry welcomes you no matter your faith tradition.

We have two residence halls: Austin Hall and Clare Hall. You aren’t required to live on campus your first year, but we recommend it as a way to become fully immersed in the Alverno campus life.

About half of our students are women of color and about 70 percent of our students are the first in their families to attend college.

Alverno College is a Hispanic-Serving Institution, supporting the success of the Latinx students who account for more than 25 percent of our population.

PRACTICALITIES:

All students are required to complete at least one internship, giving you valuable experience and connections before you graduate.

Alverno’s internship program can connect you to more than 2,000 host employers around the Milwaukee area.

We offer students the opportunity to participate in programs such as Community Day, Alternative Spring Break, St. Ben’s Community Meals, Election Worker Training and more.

POSSIBILITIES:

Broaden your horizons and gain a global perspective when you study abroad through one of Alverno’s programs that can send you to places like England, Japan, Mexico and France.

Our central location gives you easy access to all Milwaukee has to offer, including parks, lakefront beaches, world-class museums, festivals and restaurants.

We will help you get engaged in the community through internships, volunteering and student organization projects.

Each student’s circumstances are different, and our staff is committed to helping you make the choices that are right for you.

Plus, we offer generous merit-based scholarships and competitive scholarships, including our full-tuition Roosevelt Scholarship, which is awarded to a first year student who has demonstrated excellence in leadership and volunteerism.

The Thea Bowman Institute for Excellence & Leadership also offers full-tuition scholarships and a leadership development program to Black women of exceptional ability and high potential.
