I encourage you strongly to learn what to think about in preparing your will at our

August meeting (Details on page 1). There will be an opportunity to raise issues with a

lawyer in a brief Q&A session at the end of the talk. The topic is vital for all of us.

Please don’t overlook the value of meeting LACH friends. Come along and be educated

and entertained, while building and maintaining a valuable network of friends as well.

Crazy Whist and Solo resume in September when warmer weather is with us again.

We now enjoy an excellent source of computer related resources available through Yarra Plenty Regional

Library (YPRL). Please consult the Computer Group report below.

Laurie and Margaret Dyson are organising a Caravan and Cabin trip to Bendigo in October.

Details are below. Please book as soon as possible if you are interested in joining in with a

very friendly group of LACH members in holiday mode at the Big 4 Bendigo Ascot Holiday Park.

Please continue to support the efforts of our dedicated LACH conveners and committee members.

- Graeme Murray

PS. Give your “old” LACH newsletter to a potential new member. Don’t just throw it away.

GROUP ACTIVITIES

Convenor inputs for the next newsletter are requested by Wednesday, 20th September 2017.

CARAVAN & CABIN GROUP Convenors: Laurie and Margaret 9457 2623 or 0409 572 623

We have organised a trip to BENDIGO from Monday 9th to

Friday 13th October. There is plenty to do and see in Bendigo,

and it is 9 years since our group made a trip there. We will stay at

Big 4 Bendigo Ascot Holiday Park at White Hills, Bendigo.

There are plenty of cabins of different styles and prices. Caravan sites are also

available, including powered sites and en suite sites. There is a large recreation room

and kitchen for our use.

All accommodation information may be found on the excellent

website (www.big4bendigo.com.au). The telephone number is

03 5448 4421. When phoning to book mention you are from the Life Activities Club

Heidelberg or LACH or our names (Laurie and Margaret Dyson). Discuss with staff

your preferred style of cabin.

We suggest that you book as soon as possible if you are interested in coming, as

the Big 4 Bendigo Ascot Holiday Park is holding cabins for us. Refunds will be given up

to 14 days prior to commencement of our trip. We have been offered 10% discount.

Please advise us (Laurie and Margaret) when you have booked.

______________________________________________________________

A request to regulars: Volunteer convenors are sought for Caravan and Cabin Group trips

in 2018. Please contact Graeme Murray ( 9435 3546) if you would like to organise a trip.

SUNDAY TRAIN TRAVEL: Convenor: Margaret K 8407 3043

We meet at 10.25 AM on the second Sunday of the month, at Rosanna Railway Station. We will be eating

indoors in the cold and chilly weather, but you may bring your own lunch. Some might buy a cup of coffee.

On some of our Sunday train travel days we may be directed onto buses from Rosanna to

Clifton hill, due to the railway crossing being developed at Rosanna station. This disruption to

the Metro rail travel for us will last for quite a while, so we will have to be patient on our day out

till the construction is completed.

Railway stations have notices to let you know in advance if train is running all the way to the city or not. I will

endeavour to look on line before our day out to see if the trains are running or supplemented by buses.

Please join our friendly group in exploring Melbourne with free Sunday train travel.

SWIMMING: Convenor: Brian 9459 2324

Parking permit arrangements have changed, but we may be able to continue to park close to

the pool in the short term. We take our lunch and you can buy a cuppa or bring your own,

and we all enjoy a chat together after our swim, catching up on LACH news.
