GUARANTEEGUARANTEE pproject summaryroject summary
Home and leisure accidents are a major worry, especially
for the parents of young children and for adults with elderly
parents. Home security is an increasingly important
concern for European citizens. GUARANTEE provides a
technical solution for personal safety in the home
environment. GUARANTEE introduces local and network-
supported decision making for safety applications on the
basis of sensor input and with immediate response and
feedback to the people concerned.

Consumer needs for home and leisure safety exist mainly in 3 areas:
1. Safety of babies and young children,
2. Safety of elderly and disabled people which want to retain their independence and to control their own lives,
3. Home security systems for fire protection or burglar alarms.

Consortium overviewConsortium overview
In this project a competent consortium works together, originating from 1212 European countries European countries 54 partners 54 partners.
The GUARANTEE consortium consists of large companies (such as Thales and Philips), SMEs (such as ETIC and Kardiosignalas) and several universities (such as the universities of Madrid and Kaunas) as well as research centres (VTT and ESI). This consortium includes world-class complementary partners with all the required know-how in the whole added value chain from research to manufacturing, business roles and market coverage.

Task T2.5 Training data acquisitionTask T2.5 Training data acquisition. . Task leader:Task leader: Institute of Cardiology Institute of Cardiology of Kaunas University of Medicineof Kaunas University of Medicine
This task builds a set of annotated databases of safety events that will be used to develop the signal processing algorithms.
The database needs to be sufficiently comprehensive to ensure the quality of the signal processing algorithms.
Several databases are required corresponding to the different types of signal.
Special attention is required to enable the exploitation of context information by the sensor systems.

Lithuania pLithuania partnerartnerss role and role and contribution in the projectcontribution in the project
The main task of Institute of Cardiology Institute of Cardiology of Kaunas University of of Kaunas University of MedicineMedicine in participating in the project is creation of intellectual means, that is to say methods, algorithms and programs for assessment of functional status basing on on-line and off-line analysis of data that are received from home monitoring of ECG, respiration and motion activity. For real time analysis of recorded processes the linear methods and for off-line analysis - non-linear analysis methods, based on chaos and complex system theories will be used.
The another goal is management of the project partners from Lithuania. Key persons: Habil. dr. Prof. Alfonsas Vainoras, Head of science
researcher, Dr. Liudas Gargasas.
