Inclusion Support
This support programme enables children with learning disabilities to access any mainstream
activities in the Greenwich Borough. The Programme works with each child on an individual
basis, and the Inclusion Support Worker first identify the activities that child wants to
undertake. They then engage with leisure providers and mainstream facilities, supporting them
to include each child in their activities, helping staff understand the best ways to include children
with learning disabilities, and the best ways to support them. Our workers then support each
child in their chosen activities for as long as the child needs. The project is suitable for any child
under 18 with a learning disability living in Greenwich

Charlton Athletic Community Trust
Football Courses are short courses which encourage children aged 5- 15 years old to develop
their football skills and receive training from highly qualified coaches. Charlton Challenge – is
aimed at boys and girls aged 5-15 years and is a structured and progressive scheme designed to
develop children's core football skills. The Challenge concentrates on the games four essential
skills-dribbling, passing, control and shooting. As well as improving co-ordination, balance,
fitness and social skills. Each of the four skills are coached for two weeks then tested at the end
of the course. There is then a presentation week on each level of the challenge. Children will
then either progress to the next level or continue to develop their skills.
The Charlton Challenge is divided into three age groups, each with 6 levels: 5-7 years 8-11
years and 12 years and upwards, all with levels 1-5 and a 'Premier Challenge' (more details
below). Once all five levels have been achieved children will progress to the Premier Challenge.
During the Premier Challenge, children receive a high level of coaching based on technique
on the ball, movement off and on the ball, individual role and team play, and development of
skills into match situations. The Premier Challenge is not test-based; therefore coaching is not
geared towards passing a test, but more focused on development of a player. Short courses
take place at various venues across the Borough so please call for further details.
