Library Services
The library supports you in your studiesand provides a range of resources whichcan add to your learning experience.
When is the library open?
Term Time: Weekdays 8.30 am – 9.00 pm Weekends 12.00 pm – 6.00 pm
Vacation Time: Please check before visiting
Opening hours are publicised in the library and on Moodle.
Looking for an item in the library?
Our online catalogue is the best starting point and is available on and off campus.http://library.writtle.ac.uk/
There are also specific Subject Guides on Moodle.
Need somewhere to work?
The library has a number of zones where you can work: a quiet area downstairs, individual study carrels on the first floor and group work space. Our two collaborative rooms are equipped with plug-and-play plasma screens.
PCs are available and laptops can be borrowed.
You can print, photocopy and scan items in the library.
I need to borrow some books…
Your student card is your library card and you must have it with you to borrow items. Books can be issued at the library desk or using the self-issue machine. Loan periods range from 7 days to 3 weeks; most items can be renewed.
You can also borrow eBooks for 24 hours at a time.
How can I renew books?
If no-one else has reserved them:
• At the library desk, with your student card• Online via the Library Catalogue (not available if you have a block on your record)• Use the self-service machine• By telephone 01245 424245 (out of hours answering machine)• By email [email protected]
Does the library charge fines?
Yes. Full details are on Moodle and advertised in the library
How do I return my items?
· To the library desk· Use the self-service machine· Place them in the book drop box in the foyer outside the library

the library
