LIBRARY DIRECTOR: Linda PierschallaMakerspaces, what are they? You may have noticed the Adult DVD collection has been moved upstairs to make room for a makerspace. So, what is one? A library makerspace, is an area that offers library patrons an opportunity to create intellectual and physical materials using resources such as computers, 3D printers, audio and video capture and editing tools, and traditional arts and crafts supplies. In a library makerspace or maker program, patrons of varying ages can work together, alone, or with library staff on creative projects. Patrons learn through direct experimentation and from each other. The purpose of a makerspace is often expressed to be inspiring an interest in science, technology, design, and lifelong learning in the community we serve. Makerspaces allow everyone, regardless of who they are, to become involved with technology and fi elds they may not have previously considered

or had access to. Libraries have long been the “great equalizers” and that is why makerspaces are a perfect fi t to our mission of bringing access to all - and that includes the little ones too! Watch for the new Tinkerlab for the young ones! This will be housed across from the Youth Services desk. The funding for the makerspace is generously provided by the Cedarburg Friends of the Library Fund.If you have ideas for equipment, software, and arts & craft supplies you would like to see housed in the new makerspace, please let us know! We want the space to represent our community’s interest. You can contact me directly, or by phone or email.

What is the Government doing; how are the internet providers assisting and what can we do ourselves?

March 12th: Special combination event with CPL Cooking Club (Central American food) and Great Decision’s Discussion of U.S. Relations with the Northern Triangle - Peter Kranstover - Combatting illegal immigration has become a priority of the Trump administration. Please join us for a delicious and thought-provoking evening.

March 19th: The China Dream and the Challenge for America - Rick Rocamora - In November 2012, Xi Jinping was appointed the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party. March 26th: India and Pakistan - Doug Savage - India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi rode a wave of Hindu nationalism to a historic reelection in 2019.
