Meet New Adjunct Librarian: Colleen Cook

I’ve worked as some combination of a librarian and ar-chivist for the past eight years after I realized that Hu-man Resources wasn’t my passion. My information ca-reer has allowed me behind the scenes access in sev-eral national parks, to plant hundreds of tulips, locate historic blueprints, and to work with a myriad of experts in fields as diverse as mathematics to horticulture to historic preservation. I’ve spent a lot of time in special-ized spaces without public access, so I am thrilled to experience an academic library focused on outreach and service.

I’m excited to have this opportunity to work with California City and Teha-chapi incarcerated students on information studies as well the Cerro Coso community. I have a Bachelor’s in History from U.C. Irvine and a Masters of Information and Library Science from San Jose State University. I am learning to garden here in the desert. I also love exploring the Eastern Si-erra hiking and OHV trails as well as camping with my family.
