Station 1 Busy Bees

As our name suggests we are very busy on our station, we puteverything we learn into written practice. Already we havecompleted Personal Reading Pro les and this week completed our

rst short story which we wrote ourselves. It was great un we gotto choose our own titles and characters, we let our imaginationsrun wild, we have stories about girly things like angels, teddies, rainbows while the boys took over with sports, guns and sci- !!What a mix we busy busy bees are!!!

Station 2 Vocabers

This is where word power really begins. Students build on theirvocabulary day by day, building up a JCSP key wordnotebook bursting with new words and phrases. Dictionary work, keywords, key spellings and spelling challenges are an integralpart o this station.“One orgets words as one orgets names. One’s vocabulary needsconstant ertilizing or it will die”

Station 3 Super Readers

We are currently reading “The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas “ atthe moment. All groups are doing very well and we have alreadyreached chapter ve. As well as reading rom the books we arenow also using the kindles and the students are reallyenjoying using these. On Friday the 14th o September, I awarded

ve certi cates to the best readers so ar and I am sure that manymore students will be getting awards in the uture.

Station 4 Cool Writings

At Station 4 we concentrate on grammar, punctuation and writingskills. At the moment we’re ocusing on capital letters and ullstops. We’re also practicing our writing so it will be neat and tidyand everyone will be able to read the work we do.

Literacy NumeracyStation 1: Numeracy

Station 1 is an interactive learning environment, catering or thedi erent student learning styles. Formative assessment andsummative assessment used to investigate students priorknowledge and understanding o new material. Sel -directedlearning, peer assessment and group work is used to acilitatestudent learning and con dence in the area o numeracy.

Understanding Stations

Station 2:

Students work individually on the topic o the day. Each studentworks on a set o di erentiated questions, allowing each studentto work at their own level. Assessment o student learning can beachieved through questioning, and observation o each studentswork. This station also sets and corrects the homework and will beresponsible or setting end o unit assessments.

Station 4: Kinaesthetic hands on station.

This station approaches teaching and learning rom a morepractical perspective through a hands on approach to maths. Thisin turn osters the new project maths course; here we explore thecollaboration o the use o resources rom worksheets to mathsgames. Here the pupils will explore more practical leaning stylesand in doing so they will develop their knowledge and skills andsel -con dence in the particular area.

Station 3

My station is station number 3 - Computer based sel -directedlearning. There are a total o 5 targets to be completed on eachmaths topic, with various di erent tasks o di erent levels o difculty. Students also undergo “time trials” and can check theiranswers as they work

The use of ICT plays a major role in the library initiative.Students are rewarded throughout the year.

Students move rom one station to another every 30 minutes. The layout o the library ensures that each station has its ownseparate learning environment.
