PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Hi LIACS Members, Friends,Colleagues and Supporting Vendors,
It's been 34 years since I began my career in Healthcare. 25years associated with Central Supply, as we called it then. Youcan only imagine the changes I 've seen and been apart of duringmy tenor. It truly was my privilege to serve you as your Presidentthis past year. Time passed so quickly.
Without a doubt, this past year presented some uniquechallenges that tested ou r abilities and imagination both withinou r Hospitals and the industry we work. Through LIACS theadvantages of education and networking provided ou r memberswith the support and energy necessary to face these challengesand changes. We all know the importance of the essentialfunction of ou r responsibilities and I truly appreciated theopportunity no t only to be a part of LIACS bu t as your President.
As WE move forward to the up and coming years, the valuewe gather from this organization will continue to be a vital partof providing us with the management. and technical skills we
require as part of an essential function of our respectiveHospitals and Companies. We are fortunate to have LIACS andI encourage your support for the continuing advantage it soprovides.
Let's join together in participating on April 24th inductingand supporting ou r next President: Larry Guittard. This is trulya special event this year because we will be inducting Larryinto the LIACS Hall of Fame. PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
I would like to take this opportunity to thank BarbaraMatuszak and he r Board of Directors fo r all their sincere hardwork and dedication to keep the LIACS on e of th e mostcompetitive chapters of IAHCSMM. Everyone worked veryhard to offer first rate educational forums for ou r members. He r team absolutely did their best to "raise the bar" keepingour members abreast of the constant changes in ou r profession.
My main goal for this term is to continue where they leftoff. I have been President of this Chapter a number of timesan d I look forward to increasing membership and searching for"new" people to get involved an d help take on the variouspositions of this chapter. It is so important to be an active.participating member of your professional organization, especially if you plan on moving up the career ladder. With theknowledge and support of all the professionals involved in thisorganizat ion, i t arms us with the abi l i t ies to followrecommended practices.
Long Island has always been a leader for other chapters tolook to for support and information. We were one of the keyplayers in organizing the NYSACSP to prepare the State formandated licensure. We continue to participate on their Boardof Directors and meet with local and state legislators as weprepare to reach this goal.
LIACS has a lot to offer our members this year an d I lookforward to every member's participation and support to reachthese goals. We will continue to offer educational programs soou r technicians can obtain their continuing education pointsneeded to maintain certification. We are in the process of settingup meetings in Albany with ou r local an d state legislators an dthe chapter will be renting a bus to transport anyone who wants
to participate on April 22nd. June is the NYSACSP's Seminarin Niagara Falls. July will be ou r Annual Golf Outing, offeringa chance for our members to spend the day interacting withtheir peers and vendors. September will offer our members theopportunity to attend ou r Educational and Vendor Exhibit atth e Milleridge Cottage. November brings th e North EastRegional Meeting in Atlantic City that we host with the Mid-Atlantic Central Service Association. Last years' meeting wasvery successful and we hope to surpass it this year.
So please join me an d the Board of Directors in once againmaking this Chapter the best that it can be. We need your helpand support to carry out all we do for YOU, ou r members.
