Green (aka Senior Class) takes it all
By; Lindy Pilkington
The first pep rally of the 2015-2016 school year at Leeds High School was the battle ground of a massive color war. On August 28, students from each grade level arrived at school wearing colors matching only those assigned to their class. Sen-iors wore green, Juniors wore blue, Sophomores wore black, and Freshmen wore red. The Green O’ Dears performed prior to the skit featuring Greenie pushing the Trinity Wildcat off a surfboard — matching the slogan: “Wipe out the Wildcats!” Each class president with two other students of each class participated in a relay race. The first person had to spin around a bat and then run down the court. The next person had to blow up a balloon, then sit on it until it popped. Finally, the class president had to be wrapped com-pletely in streamers and run down the court. The Seniors were victorious. It would not be an LHS pep rally without the Game Captains and Coach Etheredge chugging Gatorade. Coach E. usually wins, however, this time, he lost to Clarke Smith. A new twist to the Spirit Stick Competition featured class chanting their memorized class cheer to based on their color and graduation year. Following a rowdy competition, the cheer-leaders and Greenie declared the Senior Class as winner. The 2016 class won the Selfie Stick at their “last first pep rally,” as they called it. No pep rally would be complete without the entire student body singing the Alma Mater.
