. Directions: After reading the book, aU students are required to answer the questions in Part A andthen select THREE additional activities t~ complete. All activities should be completed on 81/2 X11 notebook paper or copy paper. Completed activities will be due to your language arts teacherFriday, September 2,2016.

Part A - Answer all of the following questions.

1. Write the names of the most important characters in the story.2. When and where does the story seem to take place? What clues in the story did you use to

determine the place (setting) and the time the story took' place?3. Write about something interesting that happened in the story. You many not use more than

7 sentences. One happening in the story is enough, and not too many details.4. Who was the protagonists (the good guy) and the antagonists (dvals, enemies)?5. What was the climax (high point) of the story? .

Part B - Complete three of the following activities.

1. What did the author want you to think about the main character? What things in the storymade you think this is what the author wanted you to think? In other words, can you provewhy you think as you do about the main character?

2. What was the cause of anyone of the happenings in the story? In other words, what madesomething happen? Was it something someone did, or said, or something that justhappened?

3. Write a summary of the story. (no more than two pages)4. Illustrate two different scenes (parts) of the book.5. Think of a situation that happened to a person in the story and decide whether you would

have done the same thing he/she did or something different. Tell what you might have donein the same situation.

6. Make an illustrated dictionary for 10 NEW words you found in the book as you read.7. Make a map Showing the setting of the book.8. Write a poem about the story, one of the characters, or event in the story.9. Design a poster to promote the book. (Remember - use 8 1/2 X 11 paper)1O.lnterview one of tin! characters in the book. Write 10 to 15 questions and write the

answers from the point of view of one of the characters.11. Judge the main character's actions in the story and describe how you might have acted

differently. Think carefully about your decisions and justify your answer.12.Write a presentation to the school librarian recommending your book for inclusion in the

school library. Defend your recommendation appropriately.13. Choose a character from the book and tell what you think about that person. Do you like

him/her? Why or why not? Would you like to have that person as a friend? Why:or why not?Be specific and use examples to defend your decision.

14.What part of the story was the funniest? Most exciting? Saddest?15. Put 10 to 15 key events in the story on a timeline. . .16.Think abput the story. Write five (5) new titles for the story that would give others a good

idea about the story.
