WELCOME

to Lake Grove Presbyterian

Church (LGPC). We are glad you may be looking

for more information about our church. At LGPC,

we believe our purpose is to develop healthy

disciples who get changed in their commitment to

Jesus Christ, get connected in their commitment

to the people of Christ, and get going in their

commitment to the work of Christ in the world.

Our first hope for you is to be a part of worship

on Sunday mornings, but we would like to invite

you to go one step further through our

philosophy of Worship + 2—an invitation to be a

part of worship plus two other LGPC ministries:

one for growth through fellowship and study as

part of a smaller community, and one for mission

and service. We hope this brochure is a helpful

tool in learning about our ministries and

programs here and finding the perfect place for

you!

If you would like to learn more about getting

connected at LGPC, check out our website at

www.lakegrovepres.org or contact the church office

at 503-636-5656 or [email protected].

Need prayer? We are a church that believes

deeply in the transforming power of prayer. If

you have a prayer concern, please contact Ann

Nokes at 503-636-5656 or [email protected].

ADULT LEARNING E

Q U

I P

The purpose of Adult Christian Education at LGPC is to offer a year-round

program for discipleship that enables people to grow in their commitment to

Christ, Christ’s church, and Christ’s work in the world.

Excellent Bible courses are offered on Sunday mornings and Wednesday

evenings, but discipleship goes far beyond what we can learn in classes.

Within our desire to become more like Jesus, we aim for courses and events

that impact the whole person – not just mind and heart, but behavior.

Leaders of our Adult Learning offerings are encouraged to help people

make the link between knowing and doing. We hold high the importance

of interpersonal relationships, based on the teaching of Jesus about the

great commandment, "loving God with all your heart, mind and soul,” and the

one like it, “loving your neighbor as yourself” (Mt 22:37-39), and believing

that a trusting relationship in Jesus Christ is the foundation for abundant

life (John 10:10b).

Watch for our Sunday morning classes, and for the three terms of Growing

in the Grove, on Wednesday evenings Fall, Winter and Spring. Throughout

the year you can find opportunities to explore faith issues and deepen your

understanding of the WORD, both written (Bible) and living (Jesus).
