LG LED Troffers are equipped standard with 0–10V dimming, so they can combine optimum lighting quality with maximum energy savings. LG Troffers maintain a power factor of greater than 95% down to 0V, and can be dimmed to “off.” LG’s 130lm/W products also come with ZigBee® wireless capability, proof of LG’s commitment to open standards. This allows you to integrate with ZigBee® wireless control software from solution providers such as Daintree Networks. So not only do you get industry-leading efficacy, but also greater installation flexibility and lower labor cost, ideal for hard-to-wire applications.

ZigBee® Wireless

The industry-standard ZigBee® system is wireless, so it offers drastic installation savings compared to wired options. ZigBee® also eliminates the need for accessory equipment, requires little or no battery power and, thanks to its smart, self-correcting technology, is less expensive to maintain.

Quality Control: LG LED Lighting Leads the Way

Our goal is not quantity, but quality. You must understand that credibility cannot be compromised,

not for a single product.

Quality control was a particular area of the LED lighting industry where LG saw perhaps the greatest opportunity for improvement. Malfunctioning or just plain broken products are not merely inconvenient, they waste installers’ precious time in the field.

LG LED uses advanced testing labs and equipment to ensure the reliability of all our products, through delivery, installation and years of dependable performance. We don’t merely sample test, we light up and run photometric analysis on 100% of our troffers, in addition to a 30-minute “burn-in” test. our packaging is even designed to withstand a five-foot drop. And our published specifications are based on actual delivered lumens, not the LED module ratings.

We continue to adhere to the principles set forth by our founder, In Hwoi Koo:

Retrofit

Today’s installers are faced with an unprecedented opportunity. of course retrofits provide tremendous return on investment through the significant energy saving over their lifespan versus outdated incandescent or fluorescent lighting. However, a host of public and private rebate programs are now in place, in addition to state, federal and local tax credits, as well as special financing incentives.

So upgrading to the value, performance and style of LG LED Lighting has never been a more attractive proposition for property owners, with full payback often in less than two years.

There is a lot of misinformation in the marketplace regarding the lifespan of LED lighting. The LG LM-80 Test projects that our technology will maintain 70% illuminance for more than 200,000 hours. According to U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (fasb.org), that’s longer than the useful life of a commercial office building (39 years) that’s open for business from 8 am to 6 pm, Monday through friday!

Calculated L70 hours is the estimated average number of hours that the chips will continue to maintain 70% or greater original luminance, based on standard IES LM-80-08 Approved Method for Measuring Lumen Maintenance of LED Light Sources. All data is accredited by KoLAS, a DoE- and DLC-approved testing lab for LED performance.

LG LED gives King Kullen exceptional service today, big energy savings year after year. oBJECTIVE: Modernize the lighting in their retail stores and reduce energy costs while taking advantage of utility company rebates. Complete an extensive retrofit using LG LED 2’ x 2’ and 2’ x 4’ Troffers to replace existing fluorescent tube fixtures.

King Kullen is the premier supermarket chain on Long Island (New York) with 50 bustling locations. founded by retail pioneer Michael Cullen, the business is family owned and operated, bringing customers premium groceries for more than 80 years.

one of the hallmarks of King Kullen is their beautiful, well-maintained stores. The time had come to update the overhead lighting in several of their busiest locations, adding a fresh, attractive new look while also achieving greater energy efficiency.

Minimizing downtime was critical to this job, to avoid customer inconvenience and adversely affecting sales. fortunately, the LG supply chain is exemplary, exceeding client expectations by ensuring every product order was completely filled, often with minimal notice, so delays were nonexistent.

The consistently superior quality of the LG LED fixtures further expedited installation, while also alleviating potential client concerns regarding job safety.

With the rebates, the energy savings and the reduced maintenance costs associated with the LG LED troffers, King Kullen is now on schedule for a payback on their investment in slightly more than one year.

King Kullen Retrofit with LG LED Troffers:

• 0% Product Failure

• 100% Supply Fulfillment

• Thousands of Fixtures in More Than 40 Locations

“ It’s a very well-thought-out product, well engineered for installation, in that we didn’t have to put a lot of parts together. We started working with LG fairly late in the process, but we put the product in and it met all our quality requirements and ease of installation requirements.”

“ We were under the gun with a time-sensitive rebate, so the product had to keep flowing. LG promised us the supplies and they delivered.”

“ LG came and took care of (any concerns) right away, and they did a very good job following up.”

“This job was a win-win.”

“ I consider this a long-term relationship, LG is going to be a primary supplier. We’re building some new stores right now, and I gave the electrical engineers their marching orders: We want to work with LG.”

“LG is a great product. I haven’t had any lead time or failure of product. I will use LG for future projects.”

Cleaning up in every aisle, and checking out fast payback and serious energy saving. LG Electronics optimized King Kullen’s lighting design through the use of extensive planning and simulation. for example, if LG LED Troffers were installed to replace 196 pcs of conventional 3’ x 36W fluorescent tubes and fixtures, we calculated that the customer would receive 73 footcandles of average luminance.

By replacing conventional lighting with LG LED Lighting, we further determined that the energy savings would be $4,100 per year, a cost reduction of 56%. In addition, maintenance costs would also be reduced by $1,708 annually. Based on these numbers, King Kullen is estimated to see full payback on their investment in as little as 14 months. LG LED Troffers will deliver not only superior-quality light but outstanding energy savings, totaling $58,079 over their expected 10-year lifespan.

National Bank of Arizona (NB|AZ) provides individuals and businesses with a variety of banking and financial services at approximately 70 branches throughout the state, boasting more than $4.5 billion in assets. NB|AZ needed an energy-efficient lighting solution for their new branch locations that would also provide a bright and modern look, as well as a way to replace their existing incandescent fixtures with more efficient LED technology. They also sought to improve upon their high-maintenance fluorescent fixtures, which were plagued by ballast burnouts, along

with the need to re-lamp every two years.

NB|AZ installed a combination of 2' x 4' LED Troffers and commercial downlights from LG Electronics. Greater efficiency was achieved by switching from 96W T8 fluorescent to 48W LED fixtures, resulting in a 50% reduction in energy consumption.

Thanks to the lighting installation at the Bisbee branch, for example, NB|AZ stands to save more than 50% versus fluorescent lighting, while virtually eliminating maintenance spends on lighting-related items for the next five to seven years. The lighting change has definitely been noticed by the customers... and by those in charge of NB|AZ’s facilities budget!

“ Our corporate goal is to best serve our customers and one way we achieve this is to save money while being good stewards to our environment. We achieve this by reducing our energy footprint. The LG Electronics LED products are an important ingredient in our cost-saving initiatives.”

“ Making an informed decision about LED options is currently very difficult. After much research and pilot testing, we chose LG Electronics because they offered high-quality, good-looking products for our application. These fixtures not only save us money but have resulted in more satisfied customers and NB|AZ team members.”

“ Our branches actually feel more inviting and comfortable for our customers, which is the experience we want them to have since they are trusting us with their hard-earned money. Providing this environment while saving money on energy and maintenance cost has resulted in a real win for everyone.”

As an internationally renowned technology innovator at the forefront of energy conservation, LG Electronics could not settle for anything less than the best when it was time for their own LED lighting upgrade.oBJECTIVE: To replace outdated, unattractive and poor-performance lighting while reducing energy and maintenance costs. Three years payback essential.

LG Electronics U.S.A. Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of LG Electronics, the world’s second-largest TV manufacturer and the world’s fourth-largest mobile phone manufacturer, generating $45B in annual revenue. The Englewood Cliffs location is home to the LED Lighting Division, providing indoor lighting solutions including lay-in troffers and commercial downlights.

The current building opened its doors more than 25 years ago and had never had a lighting upgrade, so the look and feel were extremely dated. Moreover, LG Electronics has earned the prestigious Energy Star Partner of the Year distinction in both 2012 and 2013, and has committed to the U.S. Department of Energy a significant reduction in its own energy consumption.

To achieve that goal, LG has begun retrofitting its facilities with LED lighting. But with a new headquarters building slated to open in 2017, it was imperative that this LED lighting investment pay off within three years.

LG employees were logging long hours under 3-lamp T8 fixtures with electronic ballasts that were state-of-the-art... in 1990. The overall footcandle readings in the workspace were borderline on the low end, according to IESNA-recommended light levels. The parking structure, meanwhile, used 175W sodium halide fixtures that had become dark and discolored.

LG Electronics engaged an energy services partner to replace its outdated fluorescent tubes and fixtures, installing their own 48W, 4400lm, 4000K 2’ x 4’ recessed LED troffers, 25W, 1850lm, decorative 4000K F.I.L.M. (Fixture Illuminating LED Microfilm Technology) pendant fixtures and 13W, 810lm, 3500K retrofit downlights.

“ I was really surprised how much newer everything looked in our office. The LED lighting really upgraded our building. I’m looking forward to rolling it out in all of our facilities across the country.”

“ This LED lighting project was a great way to make good on our corporate commitment to sustainability. We signed up for some very aggressive goals under the Energy Star program, and this will really help us achieve those goals.”

“ It’s incredibly satisfying to work for a company that can provide these kinds of energy solutions. I’m happy that we can live what we’re selling in the marketplace, ‘eat our own cooking’, if you will. As a facility manager, it’s very comforting to know firsthand the LG culture of product quality. We did not have a single defective product in our install.”

“ Our partner, ESCO, did a really nice job. They made some great recommendations on how to improve our lighting. Their team was very timely and professional, getting the job done quickly and efficiently and removing the rebate risk and paperwork from the equation for us.”

Application Guide

LG Electronics leads by example, cutting costs and saving energy with their office-wide lighting upgrade.

The old lighting offered employees a mere 20–35 footcandles of luminance, but the new higher-efficiency LED lights deliver 50–65 footcandles. At a total cost of $215K, this project earned LG a NJ Smart Star rebate of more than $42K, in addition to an EPACT tax deduction of another $14K. Energy savings factor out to more than $42K annually, while reduced maintenance costs provide a further $12K in savings each year.

With these impressive figures, LG is on track for simple payback in less than three years. What’s more, based on 5% capitalization, this project has increased the value of the building by $842K.
