Your safety and the safety of others is very important.

We have provided many important safety messages in this manual and on your appliance. Always read andfollow all safety messages.

This is the safety alert symbol. This symbol alerts you to potential hazards that could eventually result in property damage or seriousbodily harm, even death.

The safety alert symbol will be followed by either the word “WARNING” or “CAUTION,” then an importantsafety message. These words mean:

WARNING To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons when usingthis appliance, follow basic precautions, including the following:

• This manual contains very important informationregarding the installation, use, and maintenanceof your dishwasher.

• The manufacturer cannot be responsible forinjuries or damage caused by failure to followthese safety and caution instructions.

• Read all instructions carefully before using thedishwasher.

• Use the dishwasher only for its intendedfunction.

• Use only detergents or rinse agentsrecommended for use in a dishwasher. Keep alldishwasher detergents and additives out of thereach of children.

• Do not wash plastic items in the dishwasherunless they are labeled dishwasher-safe or theequivalent. For plastic items not so labeled,check the manufacturer’s recommendations.

• Do not operate the dishwasher unless allenclosure panels are properly in place.

• Do not tamper with controls.• Do not abuse, sit on, or stand on the door or

dish racks of the dishwasher.• To reduce the risk of injury, do not allow children

to play in or around a dishwasher.• Under certain conditions, hydrogen gas may be

produced in a hot water system that has notbeen used for two weeks or more. HYDROGENGAS IS EXPLOSIVE. If the hot water system hasnot been used for such a period of time, turn onall hot water faucets and let the water flow forseveral minutes. This will release anyaccumulated hydrogen gas. Since hydrogen gas is flammable, do not smoke or use an open flame during this time.

• Remove the door to the wash compartmentwhen disposing of an old dishwasher.

For a permanently connected dishwasher:This appliance must be connected to a groundedmetal, permanent wiring system or an equipment-grounding conductor must be run with the circuitconductors and connected to the equipment-grounding terminal or lead on the appliance.Consult with a qualified electrician.

Tip HazardDo not put excessive downward force on the opendishwasher door prior to installation, as this couldcause damage to the unit or cause it to tip over.Do not use the dishwasher before installation hasbeen completed in accordance with the InstallationInstructions.

BASIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

WARNING To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons when usingthis appliance, follow basic precautions, including the following:

WARNINGElectrical Shock HazardFailure to follow these instructions can resultin death, fire, or electrical shock.• The dishwasher MUST be grounded. Connect

the ground wire to the green ground connectorin the terminal box.

• Do not use an extension cord with thisappliance.

• The dishwasher is designed to be used withstandard household current (120 Volts AC, 60Hz.). Before connecting the dishwasher, ensurethat the outlet or cable is properly grounded andpolarized by circuit breakers or fuses. Failure toprovide adequate grounding of this appliancemay cause electrical shock or malfunction of theappliance. Consult with a qualified electrician.

• Do not install or store the dishwasher where itwill be exposed to weather conditions. Failure toobserve this precaution may result in electricalshock, fire, malfunction, and/or deformation ofthe dishwasher.

• Do not damage or place heavy items on thepower cord of the appliance. Do not use thedishwasher if it has a damaged power cord.Power cord damage may cause fire andelectrical shock. Consult with a qualifiedelectrician.

• Do not grasp the power cord or touch thedishwasher controls with wet hands. Do not usethe dishwasher if it has a damaged power cordor plug, and do not plug the dishwasher into adamaged outlet. Failure to observe theseinstructions may result in electrical shock.

• Disassembly or repair must be performed byexperienced service persons. Improperdisassembly or repair could lead to productfailure or electrical shock.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

Before using the dishwasher, please read theImportant Safety Instructions.Water supply temperature should be a minimumof 120°F (49°C) for better washing andreasonable cycle time.For this reason, use the hot water supply only. Itis also important that the dishwasher is loadedaccording to instructions for effective cleaning.When loading the dishwasher, make sure thatinsoluble items such as bones, toothpicks, andpieces of paper have been removed.

BEFORE USING THE DISHWASHERWhen loading the dishwasher, observe thefollowing general guidelines:1. Place items with deep dish bottoms at an

angle to help water run off and speed thedrying process.

2. Remove solid, burned-on scraps from dishesprior to loading in the dishwasher.

3. Only load items that are dishwasher-safe.NOTE: Do not load utensils that are not heat-resistant, have decorative metal trim, etc.

VARIO SPRAY SYSTEMBecause the water spray alternates between the

upper and lower racks,all of the power fromthe motor is directed to one rack at a time.This concentrates allthe cleaning power ofthe motor on each rackin turn.

SELF-CLEANING FILTERFor best wash results, your LG dishwasher has a

CHILD LOCKLamp will turn on when the Child Lock setting is on.

RINSE AIDRefill with rinse aid when the lamp turns on.

CYCLESPress the cycle that corresponds to your desiredwash cycle.

POWER SCRUBThis cycle is for very heavily soiled dishes.

NORMALThis cycle is for normally soiled, everyday loads.

DELICATEThis cycle is for washing delicate items like glassesand china.

RINSE ONLYThis cycle is for a quick rinse of dishes.

UPPER ONLYThis cycle is for washing items placed on the upperrack.

CHIME ON/OFFTo enable or disable the chime, press and hold theRinse Only and Upper Only buttons for 2 seconds.

CANCEL • To cancel a running cycle, open the door and

then press and hold the Power Scrub andNormal buttons together for 3 seconds.

CHILD LOCKLamp will turn on when Child Lock setting is on.

• When Child Lock is set, all buttons are disabledto prevent settings from being changed.

• To lock/unlock the buttons, press Delicate andRinse Only simultaneously for 3 seconds withthe door open.

DELAY START• To delay the start of a selected cycle, press the

Delay Start button.

• Each time Delay Start is pressed will delay thestart of the cycle by one additional hour.

• The delay start time can be set from 1 to 24hours in one-hour increments.

SANITARY/EXTRA RINSEPressing Rinse repeatedly will select Sanitary,Extra Rinse, or both.

• If you select the Sanitary feature, the Sanitarylight will blink until the water temperature meetsthe sanitary temperature level, and glowssteadily when the required temperature hasbeen met to achieve sanitization.

• When you select Extra Rinse, an additional rinsecycle is added.

NOTE: This high-temperature rinse sanitizesdishware and glassware in accordance withNSF/ANSI Standard 184 for residentialdishwashers. Certified dishwashers are notintended for licensed food establishments.

NOTE: Only the sanitary cycle is designed tomeet sanitization standards.

POWER• Pressing the Power button turns on power

to the controls.

• After the cycle is complete, the powerautomatically turns off for safety and economy.

• If there is a power surge, power outage, ordisruption of any kind, the power will beautomatically turned off for safety and the cycle will need to be restarted.

QUICK START

wCAUTIONEmpty the lower rack first and then the upperrack. This will avoid water dripping from theupper rack onto dishes in the lower rack.

wWARNINGIn general, it is not advisable to open the doorwhile the dishwasher is in operation. If the dooris opened, a safety device stops the dishwasher.Care should be taken when opening the doorimmediately following the cycle, as steam mayescape.

AUTO-OFFThe dishwasher will automatically turn off if acycle is not selected or if the door is not closedwithin 10 minutes.

LOAD THE DISHESRemove any scraps of food in advance. Pullthe lower rack out and load the dishes andsilverware and push it all the way back in. Pullthe upper rack out and load the cups,glasses, etc.

CHECK RINSE AIDThe indicator lights will illuminate if the rinseaid level is low.

MEASURE THE DETERGENTAdd the required amount of detergent to thedispenser. Close the detergent dispenser lid.

TURN ON THE DISHWASHER When ready to run a cycle, open the door andpress the Power button. The dishwasherdefaults to the normal cycle.

SETTING THE CYCLESelect the desired cycle and options. Beforestarting, the display window will show theestimated running time of the selected cycle. The estimated remaining time will bedisplayed. If the door is opened duringoperation, the dishwasher stops. Once thedoor is closed, the cycle will restart from thepoint where it stopped.

CLOSE THE DOOR The dishwasher starts automatically after aslight delay.

AT THE END OF THE CYCLEEnd is displayed on the digital display for afew seconds and a tone will sound, signalingcompletion of the cycle. The dishwasherautomatically switches off for safety andenergy savings.

wCAUTIONNON-DISHWASHER-SAFE ITEMS

The combination of high water temperature anddishwasher detergents may damage certain items.LG does not recommend washing the followingitems in the dishwasher:

• Hand painted silver or gold leaf dishes• Wood or bone handled utensils• Iron or other rust-prone utensils• Plastic items that are not dishwasher-safe

When in doubt, check manufacturers’recommendations.

The extra tall tub allows loading of dishes, pans,or other utensils up to 14 inches high.NOTE: Make sure large items do not interferewith the rotation of the spray arms, and do notprevent the detergent dispenser from opening.The lower rack is recommended for dinnerplates, soup bowls, dishes, pots, pans, lids, andgrill trays. Plates should be positioned verticallyand facing the center of the rack. Pots, pans,

and large bowls must be turned so that theinside faces downward. The silverware basketmay be used in either the lower or upper rack.The lower rack should not be used for smallitems like cups, wine glasses, or small plates.These items should be loaded in the upper rack.

LOADING THE UPPER RACKUse the upper rack for small or delicate itemssuch as small plates, cups, saucers, glasses,and dishwasher-safe plastic items. Cups,glasses, and bowls must be positioned upsidedown. Extra cups or cooking utensils can be laid

on the fold down cup racks, which may alsoprovide support for long stemmed glasses.Make sure items do not interfere with therotation of the spray arms above and below the upper rack.

LOADING THE SILVERWARE BASKETThe silverware basket has separators to avoidscratching and tarnishing of delicate silverware.The basket can be divided into three separatemodules that can be used in both the upper andlower racks. For small loads of silverware,modules can be removed, allowing extra spacefor other dishes.

The upper rack adjusts up to allow you to placetall and oversized items up to 14 inches high inthe lower rack. Or, you can adjust the upperrack down to allow placement of large dishesup to 12 inches high in the upper rack.

NOTE: After adjusting, make sure that dishes inthe upper and lower racks do not interfere withthe rotation of the spray arm. Do not adjust therack while it is loaded with dishes.

ADDING DETERGENT TO THE DISPENSER• Detergent must be put into the detergent

compartment before starting any cycle exceptRinse Only.

• If dishes are only moderately soiled, you may be able to use less detergent thanrecommended.

• The capacity of the detergent compartment is 1.4 oz (40 g).

• The amount of detergent needed depends onthe cycle, load size, and soil level of dishes.Refer to the table below and adjust theserecommended amounts as necessary for your load.

ADDING RINSE AID TO THE DISPENSERThe use of rinse aid products is recommendedto prevent spots on dishes from water dropletsremaining after the completion of the washcycle, and to enhance the performance of thedry cycle.NOTE: Only use liquid rinse aid in thisdishwasher.

1 Rotate the round cap counterclockwise toremove it.

2 Add a liquid rinse aid to the maximum filllevel (max. 4.8 oz [145 ml]).

3 Replace the cap and turn clockwise to lock.Rinse aid will be automatically dispensedduring the final rinse cycle.

RINSE AID DISPENSER ADJUSTMENTThe rinse aid dispenser is factory set to level 3,

which should providethe best performanceunder most conditions.Setting the rinse aidcontrol too low willcontribute to spottingand streaking ofdishes and poor drying performance.

Setting the control too high can cause foaming,which will cause poor wash performance.To adjust the rinse aid dispenser setting, removethe cap and adjust the rinse aid lever to the desired setting.

REFILLING THE RINSE AIDThe capacity of the rinse aid dispenser is 4.8 oz(145 ml). How often the dispenser will need tobe refilled depends on how often dishes arewashed and the rinse aid setting used. If the rinse aid level is low, an indicator will light.The indicator light will stay on when the door isclosed to start a cycle.

CLEANING METALLIC PARTS

For best results, it is important to periodically check and care for the spray arms.

WARNING To prevent injury during care and maintenance/cleaning, weargloves and/or protective clothing.

Some exterior and interior parts can be cleanedwith a damp cloth or sponge. A cloudy film mayform on the surface of the stainless steel tub,especially with hard water.

CLEANING THE LOWER SPRAY ARM• Make sure that the water jet holes are not

blocked by food particles.• When cleaning is necessary, remove the lower

spray arm by pulling up.• After cleaning the lower spray arm, replace it

by pushing down until it clips into place. Besure the spray arm turns freely.

CLEANING THE UPPER SPRAY ARM

1 Pull the upper rack forward. Make sure thatthe water jet holes are not blocked by foodparticles.When cleaning is necessary, remove theupper spray arm by turning the nut on the bottom of the spray arm 1/8th turncounterclockwise and pulling down (see illustrations).

2 After cleaning the upper spray arm, press it up into place. Turn the nut 1/8 turnclockwise to make sure the nut locks back into place.

CLEANING THE TOP SPRAY ARM

SEASONAL MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE• During the summer, if you will be absent for

extended periods of time, it is recommendedthat you close the water valve and unplug thepower cord, or turn off the circuit breaker.

• During winter, if you will be absent forextended periods of time and there is apossibility of freezing temperatures, it isrecommended that you winterize the watersupply lines and the dishwasher itself.Winterization must be performed byexperienced service personnel.

1 Make sure that the water jet holes are notblocked by food particles.When cleaning is necessary, use a screwdriver to release the retainer clip from thebracket that holds the top spray armassembly to the tub.

2 Then pull the spray arm out.

3 After cleaning the top spray arm, replace it.Slide it back into place and make sure theretainer clip engages.

GUARDE ESTAS INSTRUCCIONES

Antes de utilizar el lavaplatos, tenga a bien leerlas Instrucciones importantes de seguridad. Latemperatura de suministro de agua debe ser de un mínimo de 120°F (49°C) para un mejorlavado y tiempo de ciclo razonable. Por esta razón, sólo utilice un suministro deagua caliente. También resulta importante que el lavaplatos se cargue de acuerdo con lasinstrucciones para lograr una limpieza efectiva. Cuando cargue el lavaplatos, asegúrese dehaber retirado elementos insolubles tales comohuesos, escarbadientes y pedazos de papel.

ANTES DE UTILIZAR EL LAVAPLATOS Cuando cargue el lavaplatos, cumpla con lassiguientes reglas generales: 1. Coloque los elementos con fondos de platos

profundos en un ángulo para ayudar alescurrimiento del agua y acelerar el procesode secado.

2. Quite los restos sólidos y quemados de losplatos antes de cargarlos al lavaplatos.

3. Sólo cargue elementos que sean aptos paralavaplatos.

CARGUE LOS PLATOSRetire los restos de alimentos conanterioridad. Tire de la bandeja inferior,cargue los platos y cubiertos y empújela porcompleto hacia adentro. Tire de la bandejasuperior y cargue las tazas, vasos, etc.

ENCIENDA EL LAVAPLATOSCuando esté listo para iniciar un ciclo, abra lapuerta y presione el botón Power (encendido).El lavaplatos tiene predeterminado el ciclonormal.

VERIFIQUE EL AGENTE DE ENJUAGUELas luces indicadoras se iluminarán si el nivelde agente de enjuague está bajo. NOTA: Podrá verse el tiempo restanteestimado. Si la puerta se abre durante elfuncionamiento, el lavaplatos se detiene.Cuando la puerta se cierra, el ciclo se reiniciadesde el punto en donde se detuvo.

MIDA EL DETERGENTEAgregue la cantidad requerida de detergenteal dispensador. Cierre la tapa del dispensadorde detergente.

CONFIGURE EL CICLOSeleccione el ciclo y las opciones deseadas.Antes de comenzar, la pantalla mostrará eltiempo de funcionamiento estimado del cicloseleccionado. Si la cantidad de platoscargados llena sólo una bandeja, puedeseleccionarse la opción de Upper Only (Sólosuperior). Recuerde cargar todos los platos en labandeja superior. Podrá verse el tiempo restante estimado. Si lapuerta se abre durante el funcionamiento, ellavaplatos se detiene. Una vez que se cierrela puerta, el ciclo se reiniciará desde el puntoen donde se detuvo.

La combinación de una elevada temperatura delagua y los detergentes para lavaplatos puededañar ciertos elementos. LG no recomendáis lavar los siguientes elementos en el lavaplatos:

El tambor extra alto permite la carga de platos,ollas u otros utensilios de una altura de hasta 14 pulgadas. NOTA: Verifique que los elementos grandes nointerfieran con la rotación de los brazos depulverización, y que dejen abrir el dispensadorde detergente. Se recomienda la bandeja inferior para platos de cena y de sopa, ollas, sartenes, tapas ybandejas de parrillas. Los platos deben

CÓMO AGREGAR DETERGENTE AL DISPENSADOR • Debe colocarse detergente en el

CÓMO AGREGAR AGENTE DE ENJUAGUE AL DISPENSADORSe recomienda el uso de agentes de enjuaguepara evitar la presencia de manchas en losplatos debido a las gotas de agua que quedandespués de finalizado el ciclo de lavado, y paramejorar el desempeño del ciclo de secado. NOTA: Sólo use agente de enjuague líquido eneste lavaplatos.

1 Gire la tapa redonda en sentido contrario alas agujas del reloj para quitarla.

2 Agregue un agente de enjuague líquidohasta el nivel de llenado máximo (máx. 4,8 oz [145 ml]).

3 Vuelva a colocar la tapa y gire en sentido de las agujas del reloj para trabarla. El agente de enjuague se dispensaráautomáticamente durante el ciclo deenjuague final.

AJUSTE DEL DISPENSADOR DE AGENTEDE ENJUAGUE

El dispensador deagente de enjuaguetiene una configuraciónde fábrica de nivel 3,que debería ofrecer el mejor desempeño en la mayoría de lascondiciones. Configurarel control de agente

de enjuague en un nivel muy bajo contribuirá a laformación de manchas y vetas en los platos y a unpobre desempeño de secado. Configurar el controla un nivel demasiado alto puede provocar espuma,lo que generará un pobre desempeño de lavado. Para ajustar la configuración del dispensador de agente de enjuague, quite la tapa y ajuste lapalanca de agente de enjuague en la configuracióndeseada.

CÓMO RELLENAR EL AGENTE DE ENJUAGUELa capacidad del dispensador de agente deenjuague es de 4,8 oz (145 ml). La regularidadcon la que se debe rellenar depende de laregularidad con que se lavan los platos y de laconfiguración de agente de enjuague utilizada. Si el nivel del agente de enjuague es bajo, seencenderá un indicador. La luz indicadoraquedará encendida cuando la puerta se cierrepara empezar un ciclo.

Para mejores resultados, resulta importante controlar y cuidar los filtros y brazos de pulverización en forma periódica.

ADVERTENCIA Para evitar lesiones durante el cuidado y mantenimiento/limpieza, use guantes y/o vestimenta de protección.

Algunas piezas exteriores e interiores puedenlimpiarse con un paño o esponja húmedos.Puede formarse una película oscura sobre lasuperficie del tambor de acero inoxidable,especialmente con agua dura.

lMANTENIMIENTO ESTACIONAL Y ALMACENAMIENTO • Durante el verano, si va a ausentarse por

períodos de tiempo prolongados, serecomienda que cierre la válvula de agua ydesenchufe el cable de energía, o desconecteel interruptor de circuitos.

• Durante el invierno, si va a ausentarse porperíodos de tiempo prolongados y si existe la posibilidad de temperaturas bajo cero, serecomienda que coloque aislación térmica en las líneas de suministro de agua y en el lavaplatos mismo. Sólo personas dereparación experimentadas deben efectuar su adaptación para el invierno.

1 Asegúrese de que los orificios de chorros de agua no se encuentren bloqueados conpartículas de alimentos. Cuando la limpieza sea necesaria, utilice un destornillador para liberar el gancho de retención del soporte que sostiene elmontaje del brazo de pulverización máselevado al tambor.

2 Luego tire del brazo de pulverización haciaafuera.

3 Luego de limpiar el brazo de pulverizaciónmás elevado, vuelva a colocarlo. Deslíceloen su lugar y asegúrese de que se trabe elgancho de retención.
