HBsAg Reactive / Non reactive
1. All Reactive results for HBsAg are tested additionally by Specific antibody Neutralization assay .
For further confirmation Molecular assays are recommended
2. Discrepant results or HBsAg may be observed during pregnancy, patients receiving mouse
monoclonal antibodies for diagnosis or therapy & mutant forms of HBsAg
3. For diagnostic purposes, results should be used in conjunction with clinical history and
other hepatitis markers for Acute or Chronic infection
4. For monitoring HBsAg levels, Quantitative HBsAg assay is recommended
5. INR is the parameter of choice in monitoring adequacy of oral anticoagulant
therapy. Appropriate therapeutic range varies with the disease and treatment
intensity
6. Enhanced liver fibrosis (ELF) test is used to evaluate liver fibrosis in patients with
suspected chronic liver disease due to Viral Hepatitis B & C, Alcoholic liver disease and Non
alcoholic fatty liver disease
7. Results should be clinically correlated
8. Test conducted on Serum & Citrated plasma
