Key RegistrationThis function allows the registration of additional key codes for transponder keys(Master/Sub Keys) using a Registered Master Key.

Key Code ErasureThis function allows the user to erase all the key codes for transponder keys exceptthe Registered Master Key used during this function.

Auto Registration ClosureThis function allows the user to close “Auto Registration Mode“ when less than threekeys have been registered.

NOTE:When a new ECU is installed, it is in the “Auto Registration Mode” from the factory.This allows Transponder Keys to automatically register as they are inserted into theIgnition Cylinder. After three Transponder Keys are registered, the ECU closes “AutoRegistration Mode”. See the Repair Manual for further details.

This section provides the procedures necessary to access the IMMOBILIZER KEY CODEUTILITY functions. Refer to the instructions below.

Before any IMMOBILIZER KEY CODE UTILITY function can be performed, the type ofTransponder Key must be verified. The following steps show how to verify theTransponder Key type.

1. Connect the Diagnostic Tester to DLC3 and press the (ON) key.

2. Insert a Registered Master Key (Black Key Head) into the ignition key cylinder andturn to the ON position.

HINT:A Registered Master Key is required for KEY REGISTRATION, KEY CODE ERASURE,and AUTO REGISTRATION CLOSURE. A Sub Key (Grey Key Head) will not performthese functions.

3. From the “FUNCTION SELECT” menu(Screen A), select [1: OBD/MOBD].

4. From the “OBD/MOBD MENU”(Screen B), select [6: IMMOBILIZER].

5. From the “DIAGNOSTIC MENUIMMOBILIZER” (Screen C), select [1: CURRENT DATA]

6. From the “CURRENT DATA MENUIMMOBILIZER“ (Screen D), select [1: DATA LIST].

7. From the “SELECT DATA” menu(Screen E), select [ALL].

8. The Transponder Key Type in theignition cylinder will be displayed(Screen F).

[MASTER] = Registered Master Key

[SUB] = Registered Sub Key

[NO] = Not a Registered Key,or Vehicle is notequipped withImmobilizer.

NOTE:If the Transponder Key is a Master Key, proceed to [4: KEY CODE UTILITY] bypressing the (EXIT) key back to the “DIAGNOSTIC MENU IMMOBILIZER“ (Screen C).From the “DIAGNOSTIC MENU IMMOBILIZER“ (Screen C), select [4: KEY CODEUTILITY]

9. From the “KEY CODE UTILITY“ menu(Screen G), the functions listed areoutlined in the next sections.

This function allows the registration of additional Key Codes for Transponder Keys(Master/Sub Keys) using a Registered Master Key. The following screens show how toperform Key Registration.

HINT:This function requires the use of one Registered Master Key. The use of a Sub Keywill NOT complete Key Registration.

1. From the “KEY CODE UTILITY” menu(Screen A), select[1: KEY REGISTRATION].

2. Confirm the instruction on Screen Band press the (ENTER) key.

3. From the “KEY SELECTION“ menu(Screen C), select the TransponderKey type to be registered and pressthe (ENTER) key.

NOTE:Do not register a SUB KEY as aMASTER KEY. The SUB KEY istypically left with an attendant whenthe vehicle is parked. A RegisteredMaster Key allows the user toadd/erase transponder keys.

4. From “KEY SELECTION“ (Screen D),confirm the type of Transponder Keyto be registered and press the (YES)key.

5. After pressing the (YES) key, removethe Registered Master Key from theIgnition Cylinder within 20 seconds.After removing the key, press the(ENTER) key.

6. Insert the New Transponder Key intothe Ignition Cylinder within 10seconds and press the (ENTER) key.

HINT:Look at the Security Indicator Light.It will begin to flash as the NewTransponder Key is inserted.

7. The registration of the NewTransponder Key will be completed inapproximately 60 seconds.

HINT:The Security Indicator continues toflash during registration.

8. Screen H will be shown at completionof registration. Confirm the SecurityIndicator turns OFF and press the(ENTER) key.

HINT:The Security Indicator will stopflashing when Key Registration iscomplete.

9. Insert the New Registered Master Keyinto the Ignition Cylinder and turn tothe ON position and press the(ENTER) key.

This function allows the user to erase all the Key Codes for Transponder Keys except theRegistered Master Key used during this function. The following screens show how toperform Key Code Erasure.

HINT:This function requires the use of one Registered Master Key. The use of a Sub Keywill NOT complete Key Code Erasure.

1. From the “KEY CODE UTILITY“ menu(Screen A), select [2: KEY CODEERASURE].


3. Confirm the instruction on Screen Cand press the (YES) key.

NOTE:By pressing the (YES) key, allTransponder Key Codes will be erasedexcept the Registered Master Key inthe Ignition Cylinder.

HINT:After pressing the (YES) key, theSecurity Indicator will start to flash.

4. Pull out the Registered Master Keyfrom the Ignition Cylinder within 10seconds (Screen D).

HINT:Security Indicator continues to flash.

5. If Step 4 was completed correctly,Screen E will confirm ERASURE wassuccessful.

HINT:If the Erasure completed, the securityindicator should be still be blinking.

6. Insert the Registered Master Key intothe Ignition Cylinder and turn to theON position and press the (ENTER)key.

HINT:Look at the Security Indicator Light.Inserting a Registered Master Keycauses the Security Indicator toimmediately stop blinking.

This function allows the user to close Auto Registration Mode when less than three keyshave been registered.

NOTE:When a New ECU is installed, it is in the Auto Registration Mode. This mode allowsthe Transponder Keys to automatically register as they are inserted into the IgnitionCylinder. See the Repair Manual for further details.

CAUTION:This function requires the use of one Registered Master Key. The use of a Sub Keywill NOT complete Auto Registration Closure. The use of a non–transponder keyduring this function may damage the ECU .
