SMALL ANIMAL TRACK

Dr. Terri Alessio received her DVM from The Ohio State University in 1979. She is a board certified ophthal-mologist and Clinical Associate Pro-fessor at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State Univ. Dr. Valerie Fadok received her DVM from Washington State University in 1978, after which she did an intern-ship in small animal medicine and surgery and a residency in veterinary

dermatology. Dr. Fadok became board-certified in 1982. She earned a PhD in Experimental Patholo-gy at the University of Colorado Health Sciences center in 1991. Dr. Fadok has worked on faculty at University of Tennessee, the University of Florida, Texas A & M University, and National Jewish Medi-cal and Research Center. Prior to joining Zoetis in January of 2016, she worked in private specialty practices.

Dr. Tamara Grubb is a board certified veterinary anesthesiologist with a strong clinical interest and research focus in pain management. She is an Associate Clinical Professor of Anesthe-

sia & Analgesia in the College of Veterinary Medi-cine at Washington State University, a certified acupuncturist and a consultant in a private small animal veterinary practice. Dr. Grubb’s favorite achievement is winning the Carl J. Norden Distin-guished Teaching Award, which has been awarded to her from students at two universities.

Dr. Tina Owen received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State University in 1992. She completed her internship at Kan-sas State University in 1993. In 1997,

Dr. Owen then completed a three year residency in small animal surgery at Purdue University. She spent the next 17 years in private practice at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital and become a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1999. Dr. Owen joined the faculty at Washington State University as an assistant clinical professor in small animal surgery in October 2013.

Dr. Kyle Wakeman is from Northern California and Southern Oregon. He attended Humboldt State University where he attained BS degrees in zoolo-gy and marine biology. He then went

on to earn his veterinary degree from Western University of Health Sciences. Dr. Wakeman com-pleted a one-year rotating internship at the Veteri-nary Specialty Hospital of San Diego before starting his residency in diagnostic imaging at UC Davis. He is a current American College of Veterinary Radiol-ogy (ACVR) Diplomate.

LARGE ANIMAL TRACK Dr. Britt Conklin attended veterinary school at Texas A&M University in College Station, and upon gradua-tion worked at a large equine refer-ral practice in Weatherford, TX. He

has been the continuing education advisor for the Texas Equine Veterinary Association, founder and host for the Texas Equine Podiatry Conference and is a member of the Texas Horse Council. He most recently has been a practicing veterinarian and owner at Reata Equine Hospital, which was recog-nized in 2005 as a top five equine hospital in the United States by Horseman Magazine. He has a diverse background in equine performance medi-cine, surgery, reproduction and podiatry.

Dr. Bob Gentry earned his DVM from Kansas State University in 1981. In 1996 he obtained a Certificate in Beef Cattle Production from the Uni-versity of Nebraska. Dr. Gentry spent

31 years in mixed-animal practice, predominantly working with beef cattle. He worked one year as a faculty member at the University of Nebraska lec-turing on Beef Cattle Production medicine, prior to joining Boehringer Ingelheim in 2012. Dr. Gentry joined Multimin in 2014. His professional areas of interest are beef cattle production, nutrition and preproduction.

Dr. Maggie Highland earned her DVM at UW-Madison, WI. Her anatomic pathology training included a 2 year residency at UC-Davis and a 2 year zoo and wildlife pathology training fellowship at UW-Madison. In 2016,

Maggie completed her PhD at Washington State University as a PhD Student Trainee with the USDA-Agriculture Research Service-Animal Disease Re-search Unit in Pullman, WA, under the mentorship of Dr. Don Knowles. She is currently a Veterinary Medical Officer at the Animal Disease Research Unit. Her PhD and current research focus is in small ruminant infectious diseases and immunolo-gy, with specific focus on respiratory disease in wild and domestic small ruminants.

Dr. Diane Isbell graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. While attending UC Davis, Dr. Isbell was introduced to the early ultra-sound imaging by her professor, Dr.

Carol Gillis, DVM PhD who founded the ultrasound department at UC Davis. Since graduating from vet school Dr. Isbell has spent 22 years as a racetrack regulatory veterinarian performing pre-race soundness exams in the San Francisco area. She uses ultrasound daily in her busy private practice focused on lameness in pleasure and sport hors-es. Dr Isbell has also published and co-wrote "Ultrasound Imaging of the Foot" and "Ultrasound Imaging of the Suspensory Ligament" with Dr Carol Gillis.

TECHNICIAN TRACK Dr. Lauren Christensen grew up in South-ern CA, raising goats and chickens for 4-H. While earning a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, she established a herd of goats

for vegetation control within the Animal Science Department and taught the goat husbandry course. Lauren completed veterinary school at Kansas State University with a focus on food ani-mal medicine and nutrition. Lauren is currently an associate large animal veterinarian at the Lewiston Veterinary Clinic in Lewiston, ID. Her professional interests include small ruminant and bo-vine medicine.

Dr. Sandy Willis is the small animal internist for Phoenix Laboratory in Mulkilteo, WA. Dr. Willis facilitates their continuing education program consisting of wetlabs and seminars on

diagnostic testing, communications and internal medicine. She does most of their technicial writing. She is also the Washington VMA Alternate Delegate to the AVMA. Casey Blizzard, CVT lives in Boise, Idaho and works at River City Veterinary Hospital. Casey has been working in the veterinary field since 2003 and has a BA from Boise State University and an Associates of Applied Sci. from Colorado Mountain College.

Lori Lutskas, LVT, CCRP graduated from Pierce College in 1981 with an Associ-ate degree in Veterinary Technology. Lori has practiced in both mixed animal and small animal practices. In 1992,

she moved to Pullman, WA to practice at Washing-ton State University. Lori has been with several different departments: small animal surgery, neu-rology and neurosurgery, and integrative medicine (IVM). She obtained her certification for canine rehabilitation practitioner (CCRP) in 2008 from the University of Tennessee.

Erica Mattox CVT, VTS (ECC) is the Surgery Manager at WestVet Animal Emergency and Specialty Hospital in Boise. Erica passed her VTS exam in 2009 to become one of the first VTS

(ECC) in Idaho. She is the current president of the Idaho Society of Veterinary Technicians and Assis-tants. She is the first CVT representative with the Idaho Veterinary Medical Association. She also currently serves on the AVECCT Nursing Care com-mittee. She is very passionate about anesthesia and emergency medicine. Jessica McCarty, CVT has worked in the veterinary field since 2003. In 2007, she joined the WestVet team as an emergency and critical care technician. She joined the Army in 2008 and became a Para-medic. In 2012, she returned to Idaho, and WestVet to continue her career in the veterinary field. She became a CVT and practices in the Cardi-ology department.
