Lewis Court Fund

United Way Glenelg believes Education, Health and Income are the 3 building blocks to a good life. This will continue to be our focus for the Lewis Court Fund, but instead directing funds to support senior citizens. Within these three (3) broad impact areas, funds will be directed to Projects and activities that directly benefit senior citizens in the Glenelg Region. • Helping redress disadvantage caused by remoteness. • Enhancing aged care services and facilities. • Building community capacity for age friendly communities to confidently engage older people in

community through o active living programs o community based recreational, social, and physical activities that support good health and

alleviate social isolation o community leadership and volunteering opportunities that promote the skills and

knowledge of senior citizens o intergenerational activities

• Fostering community development by increasing the social and economic participation and lifelong learning opportunities for older people in local communities.

• Encouraging positive ageing, community health and wellbeing, and education programs

1. How much money will be available for distribution to the community? The fund will be invested over a 12 month period each year, with the actual distribution to come from the revenue generated over and above CPI and costs. The original amount plus CPI will be reinvested every year so that this fund grows with the community and is sustained forever. 2. What is the maximum amount we can apply for? Lewis Court Fund Application can not be in access of $10,000.

3. Who can apply? Just like all other funds distributed by UWG, grants will be available to any DGR status organisation in the Glenelg Region that applies for and meets the application criteria, assessed by a selection panel each August. We will welcome queries from any interested applicants and will be happy to work through the best approach to ensure any applicant has the best chance of meeting the selection criteria.
