    Leviathan . . . and

    Names of Other Spirits

    By Win Worley

    Who is Leviathan?

There is a strong evil spirit named Leviathan. This extremely powerful demon

has been repeatedly enountered. The more we !now about what he does

and how he operates" the more li!ely we are to win in this fiere ontest with

    him.

Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the

    dragons in the waters. Thou brakest the heads of Leviathan in pieces, {and}

gavest him {to be} meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.#Psalm74:13, 14$

%ere Leviathan is assoiated with water and the oean and is pitured with

    multiple heads.

There go the ships: {there is} that leviathan, {whom} thou hast made to

    play therein.

    #Psalm 104:26$

In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish

leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent and heshall slay the dragon that {is} in the sea.

    #Isaiah 27:1$

%ere he is alled both a dragon and a serpent and again is onneted with

    the sea.

The most extensive referene to this strange reature is found inJob 41.

The fat that the Bible devotes an entire hapter desribing him indiates his

importane. The &odern Language translation reads'

!an you draw out the crocodile with a hook or hold down his tongue with a

    cord"

!an you put a fish line through his gills or pierce his #aws with a spur"

$ill he make repeated re%uests of you" $ill he use friendly words in

    addressing you

    3

$ill he make a bargain with you hast you should take him as your servant

    for life"

$ould you play with him as the birds or keep him as a plaything for your

    girls"

$ill fisherman bargain over his, apportioning him among the merchants"

!an you fill his skin with barbed darts or his head with harpoons"

Lay your hand upon him then remember the conflict. &ou will not do it a

    second time'

The man who hopes to master him will be disillusioned. (t the sight of him a

    person is paraly)ed.

*o one is foolhardy enough to stir him up. $ho then is he that can standbefore me.

(nd whom have I borrowed that I should have to repay him.

+verything under the whole heaven is mine.

I will not be silent concerning his limbs, his strength, his artistic proportions.

$ho has ever stripped off his thick coat of mail or pierced his impenetrable

    scales"

$ho can open the doors of his mouth around his teeth there is terror.

is back is shingled with scales closely fitted together with a tight seal.

-o near are his scales to one another that no air can get between them.

They clasp one another, #oining so closely they cannot be separated.

is snee)ing sparkle light his eyes are like rays of morning. ut of his #aws

come burning torches and sparks of fire shoot out.

/rom his nostrils vapors issue as steam from a boiling pot over burningrushes.

is breath sets coals on fire a flame issues from his mouth. -uch strength

dwells in his neck that panic moves before him.

The folds of his flesh close in on each other firmly and are immovably cast

    upon him.

is heart is as hard as a rock, solid as a nether millstone.

$hen he raises himself up the mighty are afraid and are beside themselves

    with panic.

To hit him with a sword is useless so is a spear, a dart or #avelin.

To him iron is as straw and copper as rotten wood. (rrows do not rout him,

sling stones he treats as stubble.

!lubs are counted by him as reeds and he mocks the rattle of #avelins.

is nether parts are like potsherds, they leave threshing sledge grooves in

    the mire.

e makes the deep to boil like a pot, the sea like a vessel of ointment.

0ehind him he leaves a foaming wake and one wonders if the sea might be

    growing fast.

n earth there is not his e%ual. ( creature devoid of fear, he looks down on

    all that is highest.

e is king over down on all that is highest. e is king over all the sons of

    pride.

    #Job 41:1-34$

0y his spirit he hath garnished the heavens his hand hath formed thecrooked serpent.

    #Job 26:13$

Leviathan partiularly hates these passages and the first and seond

    ommandments.

(lthough we !now little about Leviathan)s wor!" this hapter and other

referenes definitely onnet him with the sea. *ndoubtedly he is the

inspiration for the various mythologial gods of the sea' *eptune, 1oseidon,

2agonand others. (lways there is one demon god with his harateristis

who rules the seas or rivers. Some believe Leviathan was the hief deity

worshipped in (tlantis and that this !ingdom was destroyed by +od in

    ,udgment.

-onfronting Leviathan in deliverane has unovered only a few of the many

things that he does. epeatedly Leviathan has been the ulprit when there

always due to a family urse. *sually everyone in the family will have

problems in this area in varying degrees.

To brea! the urse" delare' 3I do break the curse of Leviathan back to ten

generations on both sides of the family, and destroy any legal rights or

people. 2epending upon how muh ontrol he exerts over an individual"

these will be hindered or stopped by Leviathan. Some deliverane wor!ers

have reported the disovery that Leviathan is responsible for stopping

revival movements. %e often wor!s in on,untion with ruling spirits in the

heavenlies to blo! and hinder the moving of +od)s %oly Spirit1 espeially in

the limati" final end time revival.

(s you battle with Leviathan you will learn why sripture delares him to be a

powerful" wily foe and a nightmarish monster. %is desription is so

frightening it is probably ,ust as well that we annot see him fae to fae.

thing and the weapons by whih it is won will vary from ase to ase.

Leviathan ertainly does not sound li!e anything you would want to meet on

a dar! night or even in the daylight. This demoni entity is almost impossible

to atta!. %e is so powerful and ghastly loo!ing that enemies are paraly5edwith fear at the mere sight of him.

will surfae. (lthough this is not the only soure of suh problems it is wise to

One of the immediate blessings from the expulsion of Leviathan is a radial

hange in outloo! and approah to spiritual growth. &any report a learing of

The Bible spea!s often about loosing aptives and this was prophesied about

0esus. (s we follow 0esus and learn to do %is wor!s" we mustloose the

ordained it and we must never let the ridiule or opposition of ignorant and

foolish people prevent us from pursuing deliverane. (lways there will be

those who misunderstand what we are doing and why. /n their ignorane

they will even thin! us to be enemies of the gospel and the hurh.

Satan)s prison house still holds multitudes in dreadful bondage and he uses

    Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, {and} gavest him {to be}

This is a referene to 3haraoh and the ;xodus whih parallels with another

%ebrew word 4tannon"4 whih means a sea or river monster. The word ours

attribute to self the honor due to +od alone. This ma!es this pride the very

root and essene of all sin.

Long ago Luifer delared"3I will e9alt myself I will sit on the sides of the

&ethe awful worship of me" who needs no help. 3If I go to a church which isreally real, they7ll get revelation by the -pirit of what I need.3That is ,ust

have an unspoken re%uest.3To tell the wor!ers" 34ust see what the Lord tells

    you,3is rebellious pride in ation.

The fallen angel desribed in Luke 10:1still has a raving to be li!e +od.

(s a result of the fall our whole nature has beome infeted with pride. The

temptation to !now good and evil by eating the forbidden fruit was

motivated by pride in (dam and ;ve. The tree of life was also there and they

were not forbidden to eat from it. 3ride drove them to the tree of the

    !nowledge of good and evil.

Beause we are desendants of (dam we are easily affeted by pride. This is

why Leviathan is so strong" powerful and deeply rooted in us. The fasination

with the forbidden feeds Leviathan who wreaths {coils} himself tightly in the

    inner self.

;ven after deliverane from Leviathan there is yet another dimension. Self

must be ruified in many areas. 7or example" people may wish to be

delivered igarettes but they also have a part to play. 7or example in adeliverane hurh a pouting member reently refused to attend hurh. %e

had reeived prayer for deliverane from niotine" tobao" et. %e fully

expeted to get up the next morning with all desire for a igarette

    ompletely wiped out.

(lthough this sometimes happens" many times when you get up the next

morning" you may have a regular nicotine fit. /t does not mean the evil spirit

is still there. That is the old selfish man was still down there. The only thing

to deal with it is to give orders that it to be nailed on the ross.

-rosses are instruments of death. /t is hard to !now where we ross the line

from the Spirit of 3ride to ,ust the old self inside who resists humbling itself in

    submission to +od.

Submityourselves therefore to 6od. Resistthe devil, and he will flee from

    you.#James 4:7$

Aou an resist the devil repeatedly but unless submission to +od omes first"

you will not be free. Aou may have to say" 36od, I7m going to have to break

out of this pride and become submissive to &ou.3This indeed might be the

starting plae to overthrow pride. The ondemnation of the devil is

    assoiated with pride.

*ot a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of

    the devil.

    #I 5imoth( 3:6

Old -ovenant been bypassed. 7rom what has happened to me and others

there is abundant proof that the -econd !ommandment is alive and well and

definitely for today. /t was never been abolished or abrogated. 0esus said'

3Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: 4am not come

    to destroy, but to fulfill.

3/or verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one #ot or one tittle

shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

3$hosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and

shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven:

but whosoever shall do and teach {them}, the same shall be called great in

    the kingdom of heaven.

3/or I say unto you, That e9cept your righteousness shall e9ceed {therighteousness} of the scribes and 1harisees, ye shall in no case enter into

    the kingdom of heaven.3
