“Today you will make a paper

    snowman!” said Miss Perez.

    She was Paco’s teacher.

“I will give you scissors and

    paper,” said Miss Perez.

    Paco studied his scissors.

He did not like to use scissors.

    Paco opened and closed the

    scissors.

They did not cut the paper.

    The scissors did not move.

    The scissors were stuck!

    Paco frowned again.

He did not like to cut paper.

    Paco looked at Marisol.

    She cut paper with scissors.

    Marisol cut a nice white

    circle. The circle was the

    head of Marisol’s

    snowman.

    Paco looked at Joshua.

    Joshua cut paper with

    scissors.

    Joshua cut a nice black

    square. The square was a

    hat for Joshua’s snowman.

    Paco looked at his paper.

His scissors did not cut nice

circles. His scissors did not cut

    nice squares.

    His scissors even ripped

    the paper.

    Paco’s circles and squares were

    not nice. They were bumpy.

Miss Perez came to see Paco.

“Why are you sad?” she asked.

    Paco pushed his snowman

toward Miss Perez so she could

see it. “Look at my bumpy

    snowman,” Paco said.

    “I cannot cut nice snowman

    shapes.”

“It looks like my snowman ate a

bite of his hat,” said Paco.

“I like that!” said Miss Perez.

    Paco was surprised that Miss

    Perez liked that.

Paco cut a black shape. He

glued it on the snowman’s belly.

    Miss Perez laughed.

“I see the snowman ate its hat!”

    said Miss Perez.

    Paco laughed, too. “My

    snowman ate his nose and

    buttons, too!” Paco said.

Paco cut more shapes and glued

    them on his snowman.

    Miss Perez put the snowmen

    above the fish. Most snowmen

were made of white circles. They

    looked like polar bears.

    Paco’s bumpy snowman looked

different. It had a funny hat.

It had shapes on its belly.

    Paco liked his snowman best!
