Q Annotation

The candidate considers and justifies how an individual's well-being is improved through involvement in the "water-only" policy in schools. In part (a), the candidate clearly demonstrates well-being benefits across all four dimensions, with examples that link clearly to the resources and show comprehensive understanding of the benefits involved.

The candidate continues to demonstrate understanding of the implications involved for the family through involvement in the "water-only" policy in part (b), and strengthens their answer by considering and justifying the financial impact, as well as the mental and emotional benefits that would also result.

There is further supporting evidence evident in part (c), with reference to some of the organisations from the resources. The candidate illustrates the way in which the "water-only" policy can increase in scope, from individual to family to community. The candidate provides their strongest evidence in the final paragraph, however they needed to expand on this and include examples showing more of the range of benefits to society as a whole that would result from involvement in the ''water-only" policy in schools, to gain an E8.

Q Annotation

The candidate considers and justifies the well-being effects of an individual's involvement in the "water-only" policy in schools. In part (a), the candidate uses words such as “contributing”, “evaluate”, “enabling”, and “creating a positive” cycle, providing evidence towards E8 through the appropriate linking of explained and justified examples that refer to the resources.

In part (b), the candidate continues to consider and justify the various benefits that impact the family such as “ … policy could also encourage the family to evaluate their other lifestyle choices … ” and “ ... would fulfill the values of being not only a family, but a team”.

In part (c), the candidate demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of both the short-term and long-term well-being effects for wider society. The detailed sequence (starting in paragraph 2 of this answer), showing the progression of benefits that would follow on from increased attendance at school is a solid example of a well-considered and justified response. Recognition of the scale of health and therefore economic benefits to the country is further evidence of an E8 answer.

Excellence across parts (a), (b), and (c) enables the candidate to achieve an E8 grade.
