<ul><li><p>The Leukemia &amp; Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the worlds largest voluntary health organization dedicated to fund-ing blood cancer research, education and patient services. The mission of LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, LLS has invested more than $600 million for research specifically targeting blood cancers.</p><p>Through its 68 chapters nationwide and in Canada, LLS offers a wide vari-ety of educational and patient services and ways to volunteer.</p><p>With its popular Information Re-source Center, LLS connects patients, families and caregivers to oncology nurses and social workers. In 2007, The Leukemia &amp; Lymphoma Soci-ety made 5.1 million contacts with patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals, helping people find lifesaving and supportive information through every phase of their illness.</p><p> What is lls?</p><p>An estimated 138,530 people in the United States will be diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma in 2008.</p><p>Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma will cause the deaths of an estimated 52,910 people in the United States this year.</p><p>Every ten minutes, another child or adult is expected to die from leuke-mia, lymphoma or myeloma.
