Friday November 1st Stated Communication at 7:30 pm

Friday November 15th Special Communication with dinner

Our October special was fantastic! We had a great visit from the Brethren of Union Solomon Lodge #9 in New Westminster, BC. Brother Scott Saunders and Worshipful Brother Rick Kiene prepared a fantastic Clam Chowder dinner. Visiting Brethren were WB Jim Pound, VWB Dick Caswell, and sitting Master, WB Tayfun Tur. Trowels were exchanged in fine form and fashion. We also introduced the longest line of Past Masters of our lodge that I've ever seen, starting with WB Russ Weston, and ending with none other than MWB Wayne J Deming. All together, we had at least 14 Past Masters lined up!

Our Stated meeting for November the 1st is just to take care of some quick business, primarily concerning our upcoming Thanksgiving Dinner. We will have a Masonic Moment by Ken Gass or myself (because en-lightenment and education is the path we travel).

Our November Special, as stated above, will be our Thanksgiving Feast on the 15th. We are seeking turkey donations from Brethren. All the other fixins are budg-eted (and I do mean ALL of the fixins!), but we are in need of those noble birds. If you would like to volun-teer a turkey, or would like to partake of your Breth-ren's skills in the kitchen, please email our JW, Scott Saunders at [email protected] and he will get your reservation down or open the Lodge for your delivery.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

WB Chris Huchel Worshipful Master, Bellingham Bay Lodge #44

Feast of St. John the Evangelist

Join your brothers for an evening of Friendship, Morali-ty and Brotherly Love. Oh and great food!

In early Masonry, the feast day of St. John the Baptist was always celebrated by the Craft. In fact, the first public Grand Lodge the Grand Lodge of England was born on St. John the Baptist’s day, June 24th, in 1717 in London. Thereafter, the Grand Lodge of England spon-sored great annual celebrations of this day for many years. Eventually the feast of St. John the Evangelist on December 27th became important as well and many Lodges and Grand Lodges moved the beginning of their Masonic year from June 24th to December 27th.

The festival days were of central importance to early American Lodges as well. Both feast days were almost always celebrated by all well-governed early Lodg-es. Our records indicate that Brothers George Washing-ton and Benjamin Franklin always made it a point to at-tend their Lodges’ respective observances of St. Johns Days.

In an attempt to revive this tradition, there will be a Feast of St John on December 27th, 2013. This dinner is open to Master Masons only and has very limited seat-ing. There are only 14 spots available and half of them are already reserved. It will be held in the Hotel Bell-wether Wine Cellar (see photo below).

Join your brothers for Masonic discussion and fellow-ship. The evening will include a prime rib dinner (chicken or fish option available) complete with salad, entree, dessert, soft drinks, and coffee or tea. Tickets are $65 all inclusive, and must be paid in advance to reserve your seat. There will be a cash bar option for those that wish to partake in adult beverages. Jacket and tie re-quired (dress like you were going to Lodge).

To reserve your seat, please contact Bro. Chris Bonner. Call: 360-734-2880 (office), (425) 753-6000 (cell),

Dues and Timely Notice

It is that time of year my Brothers when our Lodge Sec-

retaries will be sending out the Annual Dues (and assess-

ment) Notices. Remember that the “Rule directs that we

should punctually observe our duty”….an important duty

for each of us is to maintain the financial foundations of

our Lodge(s). Please help out your secretary and punctu-

ally send in your Dues, Assessment and Donation. Your

Lodge has its own bills to pay: rent, supplies and fees to

support our Grand Lodge are just a few.

Life Members note! A Life Membership exempts you

from paying Dues but NOT from paying Assessments. If

you are confused about this topic simply contact your

Lodge Secretary and he’ll provide you with how the

Washington Masonic Code and your Lodge By-Laws

handle this subject. Thanks from Your Lodge Secretaries
