Spring St. City Hall - Room 360 Los Angeles, CA 90012 Dear Clerk of the City: Regarding City Council Motion 20-0859 I wish to register my support and the support of the Arts District non-profit (Affordable Housing for Artists) for this motion to evaluate whether Councilmember Huizar violated GC Section 1090 with regard to real estate agreements and evaluate whether those agreements are void or subject to rescission. The project at 590 Mateo developed by Carmel Partners originally included as much as 15% affordable housing. Carmel Partner Neils Cotter and Acquisitions and Development Manage Max Zeff made a verbal commitment to me and to others to offer affordable units. Evidently, however, that commitment was traded away by Councilmember Huizar in a corrupt exchange for political contributions and other monetary considerations. We believe any entitlements granted by the city for this project should be revised to include 15% affordable or voided. We also request the city evaluate all the other pending developments to determine if any others (Parkview, Avalon, Camden, Chen) corruptly traded away affordable units. Our bottom line is that affordable units are a necessary component of new housing projects in Los Angeles. It is desperately needed, as every Member of the City Council will attest, and yet it is often elusive to achieve. We hope all the pending Arts District projects include the percentage of affordable to which the developers originally committed. Regarding City Council Motion 20-0859

I wish to register my support and the support of the Arts District non-profit (Affordable Housing for Artists) for this motion to evaluate whether Councilmember Huizar violated GC Section 1090 with regard to real estate agreements and evaluate whether those agreements are void or subject to rescission.

Carmel Partner Neils Cotter and Acquisitions and Development Manage Max Zeff made a verbal commitment to me and to others to offer affordable units.
