December 12, 2014 To: Cultural Vistas Letter of Recommendation for Steven Zhang I have had the pleasure of managing and working alongside Steven Zhang in the professional setting this summer through our summer internship program at Minyawns Inc. We brought Steven on board as our engineer and business development intern and he was perfectly suited for the role. His work ethic, willingness to learn, and self-motivation were among the biggest factors of his success in the company and we strongly recommend his services to any company. Steven was responsible for the development of new features on our web application and was required to learn many different new technologies, which he did so on his own and was very flexible when asked to take on bigger projects. His development skills quickly improved throughout the internship culminating in HTML, CSS (SASS and Bootstrap), Angular JS, Node.Js, and the Yeoman scaffolding system. He was also tasked with building an application from scratch which he did so using the Android APK and graphics supplied to him. Steven was a fantastic self-motivator as we gave him little instructions and goal set. He met our goals each and every time. As an engineering focused company, having someone like Steven was an absolute delight because it resulting in cost savings, improved the speed of development, and a refined product. Being in a technology start-up company, Steven was asked to take on many roles that was not required or ask of him. He handled the extra responsibilities with the same pose and demeanor of that of a working professional. I was constantly impressed with how well he could fit into different roles within the company and amazed at his quality of work. It is with those qualities that I believe will translate well into new environments in different countries as he is adaptable into any company culture. I highly recommend Steven to the Cultural Vistas Program and can confidently say that if Steven is accepted, he will be an instant contributor who is focused on making a difference and proving his worth to the team.
