    In view of thepossibilityof any otherPower making, as under ts protectorate, ny ofthe Islands n the open Seasand Straits belonging o the Stateof Johore, shall feelmuch obliged if your Lordship will kindly arrange or a Registerof theseappanagesto bepreservedy Her Majesty'sSecretary f State or theColoniesas well asby HisExcellency he Governorof the Straits Settlements By this plan the interestsof anycountry will be safeguarded nder heprovisionof theAgreements ecentlymade.The Islands n question ange themselves around he Coastof Johore: all those onthe Western side, and a large number on the Easternside, being in the immediatevicinity of Johore; but of the latter a large proportion also extends further out,stretching o evenas ar as he neighborhoodof Borneo.Thesemost distant slandsconsistprincipallyof what are commonlycalled by theMalays the "Pulau Tujoh" (the "Seven Islands") with their respectivegroups ofislands,but classifiedby Europeans nder the three headingsof the Natunas, heAnambas,and he Tambelans, sundermentioned:
