What an amazing learning opportunity.Attached to the newsletter is an instruction sheet forbuilding your very own bat house. Did you know bats eatmosquitoes? So rather than hanging your bug catcher nextsummer, consider building a bat house to solve your insectissues.

    This weeks homework is the letter H page along with amoney practice worksheet and an order activity. Our newstar words are me, he, be & she. All homework is due onFriday. Please continue to have your child practice writinghis or her first and last name. Also, please have your childtry to print only the first letter of their names as a capital.All the rest of the letters should be lowercase.

    A BIG thank you goes out to the Cronce family fordonating several Magna-Doodles for our Writing Center.We love to make learning FUN!

    As a fun Friday activity, we are going to make birdfeeders to accompany our discussion about birds in thewinter. The supplies needed are pinecones, peanut butter,birdseed and Cheerios . If you have of theses supplieslying around your house and wish to donate to the project,all contributions would be appreciated! Thanks

    Today we did a social studies lesson honoring MartinLuther King Jr. In hundreds of cities across America it isbeing celebrated today. We have been learning aboutmaking good choices in our classroom. Each of us will be

    observing positive choices we can make, as well as drawingthe pictures and writing a sentence or two.Our new reading theme is Animal Families. The

    children

    are focusing on how baby animals learn about their world

    from their families. They will discover how real animalsplay in their natural habitats. They will also be learningthe names of the baby animals, i.e.: calves, cubs, piglets,ECT. Did you know that a baby bat is called a pup?

    The letters your child has had in the Harcourt Seriesare: M m, A a, S s, R r, T t, O o, P p, C c, N n, Dd, F f, G g, I i, L l and H h . The sounds your child hashad are: /m/ /a/ /s/ /r/ /t/ /o/ /p/ /c/ /n/ /d/ /f//g/ /i/ and /l/. Below are the high frequency words orwall words your child has had so far. Because these words

    are tricky, they have to be memorized. Flash cards arerecommended. Attached to this page is a game boardyou can use once you have made some flash cards withthese words on them. (a, and, am, at, can, in, is, it,no, play, yes, are, big, did, go, like, have, to, on,will, the, we, you, I.) You can use a spinner fromanother game or a number cube (dice). Spin the spinner,read a sight word, move the number of spaces if the wordwas read correctly. Let me know if you need any suppliesto make this game.
