Ready, set, shop!Fancy girls (and moms) the world over love nothing better than a good shopping
expedition. In her latest adventure, Fancy Nancy and the Fabulous Fashion
Boutique, our friend Fancy Nancy opens up a chic boutique to make money for a
very good cause—her own shopping habit!
There’s plenty of fun along the way as Fancy Nancy learns about being an entrepreneur
(that’s fancy for having your own business), making money, and the fantastic feeling
that comes from finding the perfect purchase, as well as giving the perfect gift. With
Fancy Nancy and her fantastique (that’s French for really cool) boutique as our
inspiration, we’ve created this event kit, complete with a myriad (that means a whole
bunch) of suggestions, reproducibles, giveaways, and activity ideas to help you create
a sleek, unique, boutique-themed event of your very own.
Get ready to shop, create, imagine, and enjoy with
Fancy Nancy and all your fashionable friends.
Shop happy!

Make a Ponytail Holder Pick out a big button and use several loops of thread or
string to secure it to an elastic band. You can glue other buttons on top if you like, or keep it simple
with just one big beautiful button.
Make a Ring Glue together a stack of buttons, starting with the biggest one and adding
smaller and smaller buttons. When the glue is dry, glue the stack to an adjustable ring base (available
at craft stores or online).
Make a Barrette Glue together buttons in four stacks, with the biggest one on the
bottom and smaller and smaller ones on top. Let the glue dry, then glue the stacks to a hair barrette
base (available at craft stores or online—or use an old one of your own).
Make Earrings Thread a bunch of pretty buttons
onto a set of earring hoops (available at craft stores, or you
can use ones you already have).
Make a Bracelet With an adult’s help, cut a piece
of elastic about 2 inches longer than you want the finished
bracelet to be. Hand-thread the buttons onto the elastic so that
they will lay flat. You can cut out and glue photos or drawings
onto the buttons if you like, or decorate the buttons with paint or glitter. Tie the
ends of the elastic together and trim off any extra end pieces.
BUTTON BAUBLES AND BANGLES: Take-Home ActivityThere are lots of beautiful things you can make with bunches of buttons. Here are a few ideas to get you started. Just gather
together lots of buttons (craft stores sell them by the bag); some glue; thick thread, string, or fishing line; pieces of elastic; and a
few other supplies (all supplies needed within each project are in bold). And don’t forget to bring your imagination!
