Grammar: Instrumental Case.
As you may remember from Russian 1, the Instrumental case is used to indicate how the action is done or which tool/instrument is used. It answers the questions: with what? by what? by whom?Example:Он может писать ручкой He can write with a pen In Russian, the instrumental case is often used when the noun follows an action verb or verb indicating profession.
Examples:Он будет инженером. He is going to be an engineer.Она работает менеджером. She works as a manager.

Plural Nouns
1. All consonants, add ending “ом”.Доктор -Доктором
3. Replace “й”, with “ым”, if stressed “ём”.Военный - Военным
4. Replace “ь”, add ending “ем”, if stressed “ём”.Учитель - учителем
1. Replace “а” with “ой” (or rarely “ою” – older form). Медсестра –Медсестрой
2. Add ending “ю” if ends in a soft signНочь- ночью

1.Моя мама доктор. Она работает в госпитале. Я тоже буду доктором.2.Мой папа инженер. Он работает на фабрике. Мой брат тоже будет инженером.3.Его дядя менеджер. Он работает в офисе. Его двоюродный брат тоже будет менеджером.4.Твой дедушка профессор. Он работает в университете. Ты тоже будешь профессором.5.Наш друг военный. Он работает на военной базе. Я тоже буду военным.

Writing Assignment: My Family Photo Album (Part I)
Create your family photo album. You may use your own pictures or clip art images. You may use PowerPoint or Microsoft Word for your presentation. You need from 6 to 12 pictures. Compose your sentences carefully using correct Russian that you have learned in this course. Write who your family members are, their names, age, what they do as an occupation, and where they work.This week you will need to be ready with your sentences (12 or more total). Please do your homework beforehand so that your coach help you correct your sentences if necessary during your conversational session.
