Let’s Learn About Languages! D id you know that there are about 7,000 languages spoken around the world today? That’s a lot! And out of all those languages, over 1,600 of them are waiting for Bible translation to start. That means there are a lot of people in the world who don’t have any part of the Bible in their own language — not even one word! Without having the Bible in our own language, we don’t know how much God loves us. And we don’t know that he wants us to be a part of his family! But when we do have the Bible in our own language, we learn all about that through different verses. And that’s what helps us learn more about how God sent Jesus to save us from our sins. Mack and I thought it would be fun to help show you what it’s like to not understand the Bible in your own language. In this activity, you’ll see some words in English, but some words you will have to decode. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to understand the whole verse in English! And as you decode, you get an idea of what it’s like for many people around the world who are still waiting to have verses in their own language. It’s decoding time! Use the decoder to reveal the missing words in each verse. Then you’ll be able to see what the Bible is saying to us! DECODER KEY

Let’s Learn About Languages!

Did you know that there are about 7,000 languages spoken around the world

today? That’s a lot! And out of all those languages, over 1,600 of them are waiting

for Bible translation to start. That means there are a lot of people in the world who

don’t have any part of the Bible in their own language — not even one word!

Without having the Bible in our own language, we don’t know how much God loves us.

And we don’t know that he wants us to be a part of his family! But when we do have

the Bible in our own language, we learn all about that through different verses. And

that’s what helps us learn more about how God sent Jesus to save us from our sins.

Mack and I thought it would be fun to help show you what it’s like to not understand

the Bible in your own language. In this activity, you’ll see some words in English,

but some words you will have to decode. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to

understand the whole verse in English! And as you decode, you get an idea of what

it’s like for many people around the world who are still waiting to have verses in their

own language.

It’s decoding time! Use the decoder to reveal the missing words in each verse. Then you’ll be able to see what the Bible is saying to us!

Let’s pray!People all around the world are waiting to hear the Good News in their own language. And at Wycliffe, we call that you’re “heart language.” That’s the language you think in, dream in, and pray to God in! Let’s pray that more and more people would get the Bible in their heart language so that they can understand how much God loves them.

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for loving each and every one of us — no matter where we live or what language we speak. And thank you that you want each of us to know about you in our heart language. You speak all of our heart languages, and we praise you for that! Please continue to help Bible translation work around the world, and help more and more people get your Word in their own heart language so they can read about your great love for them. We love you, Jesus!
