Imagine incorporating the activities you enjoy the outdoors, camping,
watching wildlife, hunting, fishing, hiking and other outdoor pursuits
into a career that offers you a salary. Weve been teaching environmental
science for more than four decades, long before being green was on anyones radar.
Our programs are well-known and highly respected by employers across Canada,
and they are developed and taught by instructors who have worked in the fields
of reclamation, resource management and resource law enforcement. They know
exactly what it takes to succeed in the industry, and they share your passion for their
disciplines with you. They teach purely environmental programs, not environmental
options from other disciplines. These broad-based programs give you a strong
foundation in the industry while leaving you open to diverse career opportunities
and mobility. Start your career in the outdoors at Lethbridge College.
The curriculum gave me the technical background in wildlife management, fisheries management and all the resource-type management courses to understand the resources that I was enforcing the law with. The college set me up perfectly to get a job as a wildlife officer. I have a great career, and it all started with me going to Lethbridge College.

Looking back, going to Lethbridge College was a great decision for me. The thing that really stood out for me was that it was a smaller environment and I had a lot of one-on-one time with the instructors. There have been a lot of things Ive taken from college that have been applicable in the industry.

college and university preparation - academic upgrading
I am a mature student, a single parent, and entering a career that is non-traditional for women. I was scared of not succeeding. Lethbridge College stood behind me and supported me.
Angela Nelson, Academic Upgrading 2011Civil Engineering Technology 2014
Whether you need to finish high school equivalency courses or simply upgrade your marks, you
can take the courses you need to get into the post-secondary program of your choice. We offer
the equivalent of grades 9 to 12 in math, English, academic reading, biology, chemistry and physics.
Traditional face-to-face classes and blended formats run on the main campus; some courses are also fully
available online. You can complete any lab components at the main campus in Lethbridge.
Students work with an advisor to take courses that will be accepted in lieu of high school courses for
admission at Albertas universities, colleges, and technical institutes, as well as at most colleges and
universities in Canada and the United States. However, students do not receive high school credits towards a
diploma from Alberta Education. Lethbridge College issues its own grades and credentials.
Students in our program frequently use the services of the Learning Caf, a drop-in and online learning
assistance centre. Learners affected by physical and learning disabilities can use Accessibility Services
as a first-step connection on their path to success.
Lethbridge College provides support to students at all stages of their academic careers. Students enrolled in the academic upgrading program will find help when they need it and a community to share in the celebration when they achieve their goals.
